Rating: Summary: A Truly Worthwhile Read Review: Although I do agree that Stratton can be a little biased in his exaltation of the breed, I do say that this book is something those wishing to acquire a wealth of Pit Bull knowledge should read. It really is a good book, like Stratton's three other American Pit Bull Terrier books, and is something I enjoyed to read.Get this book if you like a good read!! I not only reccomend this book to you but I reccomend Stratton's books "This is the American Pit Bull Terrier" , "The Book of the American Pit Bull Terrier" and "The Truth About the American Pit Bull Terrier"
Rating: Summary: World of the American Pit Bull Terrier Review: Books like this which promote illegal activities, animal abuse and torture should not even be offered to the public. Carrying this book supports illegal acts.

Rating: Summary: dog killer Review: I find this book to be disgusting. I think Richard Stratton is a terrible person and I just found his book somewhere and decided to read it. I wouldn't pay money for this book. I think one star rating is just one star too much, I rate it 0! I think the sport of dogs fighting is evil, as is Richard Stratton.
Rating: Summary: Love of fighting, not love of the breed. Review: I thought this book would be in support of and for the breed. Instead I found the author completely in favor of, and promoting fighting. It is book's just like this that give pit bull's a bad rap. TRUE lovers of the breed know their genuine potential as an incredibly affectionate and loving dog. My pit bull is so gentle and cuddly. Working in a vet clinic, I often see the results of accidental fights. NEVER would someone intentionally expose somthing they "love" to this situation. They never have and never will appreciate this dog. They love the way their ego's feel watching two dogs rip each other apart. It is disgusting. If people succeed in outlawing this breed, it will be with the help of book's like this. Once again, this book is about what people have made the breed. Not the breed itself. What a waste.

Rating: Summary: This is the best book there is!!! Review: Not only have I met and talked with Mr. Stratton, but Ive read and re-read all his books. This book was writen on the history of pitbulls.period. To read into it any more you'd have to be a fool.
Rating: Summary: A good read considering it's a dog book. Review: Stratton has a way of romantacizing pit fighting and exalting the APBT to a point of near "god-like" status. After reading his book, you will be totally convinced that there are only two kinds of dogs. The APBT and those that "wanna be". All jokes aside, this book is the main reason that the APBT is one of the most popular dogs today. Although I would advise you keep in mind that his opinions are extreamly biased due to his love of the breed. Nothing he says in the book is necessarily untrue but you may have to take some of it with a grain of salt. Most of his research methods are questionable and based on a "common sense" school of thought rather than using any real hard evidence or reliable documentation. Having said that, you will find the book probably more interesting than just about any other book written on any animal whatsoever. You will most certainly find yourself looking for his other titles if you love APBTs as much as I do.
Rating: Summary: Dog Fighting Glorified Review: Unless you honestly think that any animal enjoys fighting another for his life, unless you enjoy the idea of animals abused for entertainment purposes or unless you think that "dog fighting" quaifies as a "gentleman's sport" then I'd suggest you look to someone other than Stratton for your information. His glorification of the past and present of dog fighting is both sickening and and frightening all at the same time. Calling the low lifes who get their kicks watching animals suffer "dogmen" in an attempt to sanitize this brutality does not change the facts. Dog fighting is not now, nor was it in the past, anything to be admired. His description of match details is enough to make any honest dog lover cringe. The book does provide some excellent historical information on the development of the breed. However, there are other excellent sources of information on the subject, which manage not to make dog fighting sound like an acceptable activity. Thank you Mr. Stratton for pounding one more nail into the coffin of this beautiful, loyal and misunderstoond breed.
