Summary: Finally, a well written art book!
Review: I recently spent a long evening at the bookstore perusing all the ceramics instruction books, and this was the best of the batch. It is well laid-out and has beautiful photographs of techniques and finished projects, but what really sets it apart is the clear and elegant writing. An excellent book.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: A deft product in itself
Review: The potter's companion, is exactly that, a book containing a broad range of everything you need to know about making pottery from clays to glazes. There is something for both beginner and advanced potter: there are pictorial demonstrations of how to make something on a wheel as well as some breathtaking designs from experienced potters. The book itself has a lovely glossy feel and is beautifully presented - it is a joy to browse.

Summary: Instruction and Inspiration
Review: This book is a combination of basic all-around information on pottery techniques that is presented with lots of examples of beautifull pieces that will get your creative juices flowing. It covers a wide range of subjects including basic turning, handles and spouts, coiling, slabwork, pinching, extruding, molding, glazing and decorating. This book really lives up to its name. Every time I open this book, I get a new idea. Great stuff!

Summary: Great for beginners & intermediates
Review: This is a fantastic book for the first-time potter or for someone experienced hoping to learn more. The only weakness was too few photos of finished products to see the results of techniques being described in the book. Otherwise, a fun book that will inspire you to learn more about your craft!

Summary: For all pot throwers
Review: What a great book for all of us clay lovers. Not overwhelming yet offers information on about everything you need to know. I've had this book for several years and I keep getting out again and again.
