Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Robert: An apparition for wildlife at home Review: After reading That Quail Robert I have been giving the book to people who like pets, but have no feeling for wildlife. Robert is only unique in that he was raised by humans and not by other quail. There are quail in our parks and wilderness that are just as social and expressive as Robert, however they share their social activities with their own species and not ours. I highly recommend reading That Quail Robert, and then going outside and observing wild quail and other wild animals. There is a little bit or Robert in them all.
Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: donkey quails Review: i loved this book. before i went out and bought my pet quail i read this book and so much in this book is true. i have had so much companionship from my quail (his name is donkey quail or mr. dq for short) just as anyone could from a dog or a cat. he sits by my side at night time. sometimes even on my shoulder. he likes to be pet and he even knows his name. i think everyone who reads this book will enjoy it and will probably want to go out and get a quail.
Rating: ![3 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-3-0.gif) Summary: Sweet animal story Review: I read this as a girl, and randomly happened upon it at a used book store this week and purchased it for a dollar. It's one of a genre of books I think girls of a certain age read (I know I certainly did) about animals and their relationships with humankind. A charming, rather well written tale of a quail adopted by a family in Cape Cod.

Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: A poweful story of sensitivity and awe at nature! Review: I read this story with my 8th grade classes for many years, always marveling at how it drew a deep awakening of an appreciation and respect for animal life, often not previously sensed by these adolescents. My tattered and worn paperback copy was lost a few years ago, and I have missed it greatly! Thanks to Amazon, I have a new hardcover copy on its way to me, and students yet to share its greatness with!
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Made Me Cry Review: My interest was sparked to read That Quail, Robert, because an adult friend of mine constantly is saying quotes from the book. I was surprised to find quite a lovely story about a mature couple and the tiny quail they raised. Robert befriended every human it met and as a reader, I was enchanted with his little personality. Prepare your heart, as the ending may bring tears. I loaned this book out and am replacing it, as the borrower asked to keep it. I will encourage my teacher-friends to read this to their 3rd-6th grade classes.

Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: A compelling story of a bird and her owner Review: That Quail, Robert was a very compelling look at nature. If you like nature books, you'll love That Quail, Robert. If you think birds can't be humans, than you haven't read this book.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Quails are smart and lovable Review: That's what "That Quail, Robert" amply demonstrates. Although ornithologists apparently eschew the assignment of human thought and emotion to animals and birds, this book convincingly shows that quails are capable of love and having hurt feelings, and are in need of companionship, just like humans. Quails are also intelligent enough to play games and critique the slightest change in home decor! Of course Robert the Quail was very lucky to have "parents" as loving and doting as the Kienzles and benefited from the fact that they were a retired couple who enjoyed rearing a new "child" after their other children had long since...flown the coop.
