Summary: Great reference book for new knitters
Review: I love this book! I started knitting about a year ago, and essentially taught myself to knit using it. It is very comprehensive, from the most basic techniques to the most advanced. It has color photographs, excellent how-to diagrams, and a number of projects as well. It is a reference book that I know I will treasure for many years. It has a wealth of information, and I can't imagine myself outgrowing it. It is well worth the price.

Summary: Buy this book
Review: Quite simply, if you knit, or would like to learn, you are not complete without this book. I have almost worn out my copy, and all my knitting friends receive a copy as a gift from me. This to knitting is as a dictionary is to writing.

Summary: If you buy one book on knitting, I'd suggest this one!
Review: I recommend this book to all my knitting friends, from beginner to advanced. It provides excellent instructions on different stitches (in both American and European styles of knitting) and makes a good reference for stich patterns.

Summary: Wonderful book for beginning knitters
Review: I just was learning how to knit when I bought this book. It really helped me to progress in my knitting techniques. The diagrams are very helpful. I especially like the directions for the different stiches and pattern in the back of the book. If you are just learning how to knit, this is a wonderful book to have!

Summary: A beginner and intermediate knitter's best friend
Review: This beautifully illustrated book -- it has photographs of EVERYTHING -- is the ultimate in how to design your first sweater. Countless styles of sweaters are charted and described, along with rules of thumb for going off on your own. This made my first sweater design, a set-in sleeve (!), a finalist in a recent contest. My only complaint with the book is that it doesn't cover double-knitting and a few other more specialized techniques. However, this is a knitting library must for intermediate knitters.

Summary: Lots of illustrations as needed for reference and learning.
Review: Vogue Knitting is a very complete reference book. It is well worth the money because it includes different types of stitches, correcting mistakes, and even how to design your own pattern. It has lots of photographs and illustrations that make learning a new technique a breeze.

Summary: The MUST HAVE knitting book from beginner to experienced
Review: After kissing several toads I finally found the prince! This book contains everything you need to know about knitting that even a beginner can understand and follow. The illustrations are wonderful and complement the instructions beautifully. The layout is very organized and follows a logical order in the knitting scheme of things. The most important thing is that it is not so longwinded that you get bored after the first ten pages! All subjects are covered in a straightforward and succinct manner. I would recommend this book to anyone who loves to knit or who is thinking about getting started. My mother-in-law comes from Norway and has been knitting since she could hold the needles. I told her she needed a copy of this book!

Summary: Best Reference
Review: Whether you are a beginner or an advanced knitter, this book offers a wealth of information. Each technique is accompanied by clear and helpful diagrams, as well as a description of what is going on in the picture. I found this particularly helpful because I am a learner who needs to see what is happening in order to duplicate it. As an advanced beginner, I learned a great deal from this book. The chapters on finishing techniques and blocking were very informative and I was able to apply them directly to my work. The book also provided inspiration for all that is possible with knitting and fiber arts.

A great resource for any knitter's library--do not pass this one up!

Summary: Great reference easy to use
Review: As a beginner+ knitter I was looking for a book to extend beyond the knit and purl stitch. This book opened my eyes to all sorts of stitches, finishes and great ideas. The instructions are easy to follow and the book is organized really well. Even the sections on making sweaters seems so easy to follow I am ready to move beyond the scarf/afghan stage. Highly recommended to new and more experienced knitters.
