Rating: Summary: Outstanding Book Review: With just one season of applying her practices, I have concluded that The Well-Tended Perennial Garden is a major breakthrough in perennial gardening books for amateur gardeners. With her substantial practical experience and simple language, the author has successfully used a species by species approach on how and when to prune, deadhead, and otherwise manage many popular perennials. Also, the practical discussion on soil preparation is invaluable. Those of us who have neither the time or energy to devote our lives to horticultural study owe may thanks to Ms. DiSabato-Aust. My review of several score of perennial gardening books leads me to conclude that the authors were unwilling or simply unable to devote the energy needed to provide such useful, understandable steps to successful perennial gardening.
Rating: Summary: Not for the Average Gardener Review: You will be overwhelmed with practical information in this illustrated guide. I recommend it for a person who has already been gardening and wants to tend, update or redesign her beds. This book gives you an up-close view of professional gardening information. It was recommended to me by a landscape architect and well worth it.
