Rating: Summary: Supurb Review: A BEAUTIFUL red volume with gold letters. This volume is wonderfully illustrated on either end with pictures of the Imperial Family and their royal relations from all over the world. In the middle of the book is the jewel album of the Tsar. Ever since 1889, Nicholas drew and painted every piece of jewelry he was given until 1913 when the notebook was ended. The notebook is exactly as he drew it. Their is an excellent essay, as well, on the jewelry by Irina Bogatskaya. I would say this book is a must have for people interested in Nicholas and Alexandra of the Royal Houses of Europe.

Rating: Summary: interesting book for Romanovphiles Review: A beautifully produced slipcovered volume of Nicholas's own watercolored renderings of his personal jewelry, of which he apparantly had a lot of (I guess that's a necessity of being tsar-emperor). The real treat, however, are the family photographs, many of which are previously unpublished. If your a serious Nicholas and Alexandra collector, this is a must have.

Rating: Summary: Beautiful Review: Absolutely gorgeous family photographs topped with Nicholas II's personal jewel album. Nicholas's drawings and inscriptions of his jewels are the best. This book includes a variety of photographs and even a translation of Nicholas's writings. There is some confusion on three photographs of the Grand Duchesses but that is very minor due to this otherwise magnificent book.
Rating: Summary: A lovely book but an odd hybrid Review: I love this book--the presentation is classy with the slipjacket, the size and paper choice are perfect, and just when I thought I had seen every photograph of Nicholas II's family along comes the Jewel Album! However, that's where the hybrid part comes in--watercolors of men's jewelry is bookended by lovely, mostly unseen photos of Nicholas' family. I would rather have had one book on the jewelry of the whole Imperial family and another separate book on Princess Irene's extrodinary photos. Still, I enjoy this book very much--it's nice to still be able to find new information on Nicholas and Alexandra even in the 21st century.
Rating: Summary: Wonderful view of the Imperial Family Review: I recommend this book to everyone who is interested in the last imperial family of Russia. The informal photographs are enchanting, and there are so many that I had never seen before. A wonderful view of this close and tragic family.
Rating: Summary: VERY interesting. Review: Nicky was a man of creative impulses like his children and his drawings totally show it. Not to mention this has lovely photographs of the family. My favorite has to be the one of Grand Duchess Tatiana Nikolaevna in 1906.

Rating: Summary: Lots of candid pictures... Review: This book is filled with pictures you won't see elsewhere. Many charming candids and lots of informal shots, which means that a good number aren't of optimal photographic quality (too dark, &c.). Some caption misidentifications, but otherwise wonderful.
