Summary: Don't plan a wedding without it
Review: Not only did I find my gown through the websites listed I saved $... on my wedding gown because of this book. Additionally, this book educated me on the wedding "industry". Wedding planning is tedious and expensive, armed with knowledge provided in this book you can make it less so. The book details everything from bridal fairs to videographers. Even if you don't care about a budget the details are priceless.

Summary: the only bridal planning book you need...
Review: I looked at (and bought) a number of books to help me think about planning my wedding, but this book is the only one I really used for everything but the ceremony -- this book is an invaluable resource for sidestepping the "racket" known as the American bridal industry. In particular the resources for doing a lot online and the lists of questions to ask vendors were very useful. Don't be fooled by the other budget wedding books -- this is the one book that actually helps you save $$$ on your wedding.

Summary: A MUST HAVE if you are on a budget!
Review: I can't imagine planning our wedding without it. Even if you don't have a strict budget, this is a great book to have for reference. I've purchased 4 different books for planning our wedding and this is the one I read the most (the cover is completely misshapen). Its inspired me to do my own flowers to save money, and the information about the different bridal gown designers was more helpful than I would have imagined.

Summary: Amazing Book!!!
Review: Wow! I wish I bought this book earlier, like when I first started planning my wedding! Not only does it give great advice on how to save money for your wedding, it offers excellent reviews on everything wedding related, ie: the best dress designers, invitation makers, bridesmaids designers. It offers URL's to websites that offer low priced dresses, invitations, favors, etc.
I highly recommend this book, especially if you are in the beginning of your wedding planning!

Summary: Great ideas!
Review: My fiance and I are paying for our own wedding, so we are looking to save on the costs. This book gives great ideas on how to have a beautiful wedding without spending a ridiculous amount of money. Not to mention the do-it-yourself ideas that you can brag about when people compliment them at your wedding. Highly recommended!

Summary: A must-have! Save $ without giving up quality!
Review: I am just starting to plan my wedding and I have been shocked at how expensive everything is. I have looked through a lot of books but they teach you how to make your own dress or suggest ideas that will take away from your special day. This book is great! It tells you how to get what you want for less. We all know that we can but a no-name dress to save money or skip the limo service - but how do you get everything you want for less. You have to read this book!

Summary: Throw a fantastic wedding on a fantastically low budget!
Review: I stumbled across this book while searching through what seemed like thousands of planners, workbooks and etiquette books at the bookstore. I was attracted to its unique shape (neither the standard small paperback size nor an oversized, hard-to-carry hardback) and found that it's contents were exactly what I needed. (The size of the book makes it easy to carry, tuck under your arm or stick in your purse while out and about!)

The book is divided into chapters by topic - flowers, the dress, food, DJs, etc. The chapter on invitations helped me the most, I ended up ordering beautiful invitations for $...each from a mail-order catalog that I would have been wary of before. There are tons of ways out there to save money and still have the wedding you've always dreamed of. This book provides a wealth of knowledge about everything that is out there and available to you but may be a bit off the beaten path. The authors are very thorough in covering all aspects of wedding planning and leave nothing out.

This book helped me to explore lots of options in every area of planning my wedding. They have so many suggestions and creative ideas in addition to a great summary of the usual planning ideas, tips and tricks. Planning a wedding can be very scary and intimidating and this book left me feeling prepared and armed with a wealth of knowledge when I went through planning my fantastic wedding!

Summary: Bridal Bargains
Review: This book was great- I saved almost a thousand dollars on my wedding gown. There is a section in the book that lists the major gown designers and their websites. It gives a rating (A thru D) and lists their price range- It was invaluable- I had all information about each designer before I went to the bridal salons and was able to make an educated decision.
Bottom line- this book is a must buy- It makes a great engagement gift!

Summary: Don't buy a dress without reading this book first!
Review: Planning a wedding is a little bit like buying a car; most of us are prepared to lay down thousands of dollars for options and features we like but don't fully understand. It's partly an emotional decision, partly a practical one, partly financial. Tradition plays a role, and so does the desire to have the very latest thing. It's something that (most of us, anyway) hope to do only once. And, much like the auto industry, shady dealers abound, ready to play on your emotions and lack of knowledge.

This book is filled with carefully researched information about the entire process of working with vendors while planning your wedding. It is not a wedding planning book; look elsewhere for timetables, to-do lists and ceremony vows. But it will give you lots of options on how to save money on the big ticket items: the dress, the venues, the rings, the flowers, the transportation, the catering, and more. There are also stories and tips from real brides in each section. The information on the apparel industry is particularly helpful; read this section before you buy a dress!

It gives websites and phone numbers to resources you won't be able to find elsewhere (I used this book to find ... a bricks and mortar store in NYC that sells bridesmaid gowns over the internet--saved me [money] per dress over the price at a traditional bridal shop). While it does take a skeptical approach to the wedding industry, which some reviewers here have objected to, it gives credit where credit is due, helping you find honest vendors you can trust. Another plus, the tips and ideas here will work no matter what kind of style of wedding you're planning or budget you are working with.

You wouldn't buy a used car without consulting Consumer Reports, Edmundson's or the Kelly Blue book; don't plan a wedding without this one!
