Summary: This book should be named the Bride's Bible!!
Review: I couldn't begin to tell you all the awesome ideas I got from this book. I couldn't put it down when I first bought it! Not only are there great ideas for saving money, but Denise and Alan Fields really take brides into the 90's with all the online info. From a bride with no time to research during the week, I love the fact that I can hop online on a Sunday and find tons of info. And best of all, you can get constant updates about the book on their web page!

Summary: A wedding planning essential!
Review: I first bought this book a few years ago in its third edition. I didn't think they could possibly improve on it, but they did. The Brides in Cyberspace web guides and the web/phone index is great. Some of their ideas are a little too frugal for my taste, but as a whole, it's a fabulous book.

Summary: Simply the BEST!
Review: If you're going to buy 1 book for your wedding planning, this is the one! It covers everything from when is the cheepest time of the year to get married in your area, to how to avert potential catering scams, to how to avoid being crazy on your wedding day! The Fields really are the first true advocates for the bride and groom instead of the bridal industry. It's a very refreshing perspective!

[If you're going to buy 2 books, buy the Fields' Bridal Gown Guide!]

Summary: Good but not great
Review: I really enjoyed this book, but I disliked the fact that the rating system was not consistent. For dresses and invitations, I would have split categories into "high priced" and "low priced", and then ranked them with stars. I understand that price is a factor in determining quality but it's misleading to give an excellent, top of the line product 2 out of 4 stars because it's more expensive than a shoddy product. Something that I found distasteful was the inclusion of a letter from a bride complaining about all the silly rules that pastors have about what you can say, do or listen to in their church, as though God's presence was a distraction from their beautiful photo-op. Overall, I enjoyed the book but it could have been more helpful, and that letter was just offensive.

Summary: THE ONE AND ONLY WEDDING PLANNER YOU WILL EVER NEED!!!
Review: The first edition of this book was loaned to me when I got married in 1994. I literally whooped and laughed out loud when I read it. What a revelation! Finally, a wedding book written for REAL people! The Fields' cheerfully debunk all those myths about what your wedding "must" have; tell you all the ways that the "wedding industry" takes advantage of brides, grooms and their families; and, most importantly, reassures you that you CAN have a wonderful wedding without spending more than you make in a year. Really. You don't have to elope. The section on dresses was especially helpful and enlightening.

One negative note: the section on "Wedding Trends" in various cities around the country was disappointing. After taking wedding consultants to task in several previous sections of the book for contributing heavily to the high cost of weddings, why would they interview consultants for this section? The segment on Phoenix bore no resemblance to any wedding I've been to here.

Other than that, I have nothing but high praise for this book and I recommend it to everyone I know who's getting married. Forget about all those bridal magazines that are more ads than info--BUY THIS BOOK!!!!!

Summary: the best wedding book on the market
Review: This book is by far the best money any bride will spend on her wedding! It gives tips on everything, from how to pick a dress to how to make sure you don't get ripped off. It even gives tips on the best bridal websites! I carry this book everywhere with me. It has been a lifesaver in the planning of my wedding!!

Summary: Well worth the money.
Review: Since my fiancee and I are paying for our own wedding, we want to save every dollar we can. This book is a wonderful source of information for brides and grooms. It is especially helpful because it give good suggestions on spending your money wisely, and also helps you figure out where to start looking for the different products and services that you will need. I especially appreciated the list of questions that it offers. This book let me know what questions to ask and where to shave off those extra costs. The book also suggests where extra money will be well worth the cost. Overall, it was a very good resource.

Summary: BIG BUDGET OR SMALL, THIS IS THE WAY TO GO!
Review: My husband and I had a "Fairy Tale Wedding" at the Walt Disney World Grand Floridian Resort (read: not a bargain!) We were able to afford such a lavish wedding (which we paid for ourselves) because we saved money based on suggestions taken DIRECTLY from "Bridal Bargains." We saved $300 on flowers, $600 on rings, $300 on the photographer, $150 on my gown, $200 on alterations, $100 on the veil...you get the idea. Run, don't walk, for your copy of "Bridal Bargains" and outsmart those wedding vendors who think you're willing to set all logic aside for the "happiest day of your life!"

Summary: Bridal Bargains, you saved my life!...and my bank account!
Review: The best book of its kind (and from what I've found, the ONLY one), Bridal Bargains was an immensely useful tool in planning our small wedding. Just as I was getting discouraged and starting to buy into the idea that a nice wedding meant spending big bucks, along comes this resource (thank you, Amazon.com!) and saves the day. Our wedding was tasteful, elegant, and perfect thanks to the useful tips we received. I've already passed it on to friends who plan to use it in planning their special day.

Summary: This book is both helpful and fun to read, thank you
Review: A friend from work loaned me your book and after only two days I had to go out and buy it for myself. There is so much helpful info and tips and advice that is practical and realistic. You wrote the book in a candid and fun style and I really enjoy reading it. To my delight, when I went to buy the book your 3rd edition was available, and the updates are great compared to the 2nd edition(not that the 2nd edition was no good, that is what got me to go buy the book in the first place)Keep up the good work and since I am the first to marry in my family and blind about the whole thing I assure you the advice and tips are very helpful and are very appreciated.
