Review: As can be seen from the look inside pages, this is a book for reference of architectural details, rather than a coffee table treasure. A wonderful resource for identifying the embellishments on facades of all types and time periods. Chapters start with a chronological account of facade development, then followed by the largest section divided up by types of ornaments which are then arranged in alphabetical order by their location on the facades and types. Over 2000 black and white photographs are close ups of details grouped in sets on each page with accompanying background text. A glossary is also included. Although interesting to flip through, it's main appeal is as a comprehensive reference for the serious student or professional in the art and architeture realm.
