Summary: Creative Lettering IS easy! Becky is Queen!
Review: Maybe I'm biased, because ANYTHING Becky Higgins puts out, I will buy, sight unseen! But this book is FAB-U-LOUS for teaching us that these beautiful fonts can be duplicated by anyone, using step-by-step instructions, explained very well in this book. My handwriting has really gone downhill in the past few years, but you wouldn't know it from my hand-lettered titles! So don't let handwriting deter you. Becky shows you lots of ways to customize your lettering, with pens, pencils, chalks, watercolors, fill-in patterns. And as another plus, many of the examples in this book are shown on scrapbook pages--bonus layout ideas! This book is a must for any scrapbooker, or card-maker, and would be fun to have to help decorate your correspondence, too! Definitely a winner!

Summary: Can't stop!
Review: There are so many good fonts in this book, I have trouble deciding which to use for cards, scrapbook titles, and other crafts!

Summary: How to letter for those of us who lack the knack
Review: There is a reason this is the standard in scrapbook lettering guides: it explains how to create those fancy letters in a simple, logical way that even people with atrocious handwriting can pick up quickly to improve their page layouts. All that , and it's cute, too!
It turns out that Becky Higgins' style of creative lettering is based on a simple alphabet that is adorned in one of six basic ways, then embellished and colored in. Yes, it really is that easy! Your titles and first paragraph letters can be customized according to season, color scheme, occasion, pattern match, mood, etc. The fifty variations on the six lettering styles will be more than enough for most people to fill their scrapbooks without seeming repetitive - but you may find yourself designing variations of your own after practicing for a while.

The limitation of The Art of Creative Lettering is that IMHO, the lettering styles lend themselves almost exclusively to a country and/or casual feel in the page designs. This is a popular way to scrapbook, and you may not need anything else. However, sometimes a more sophisticated, adult look is called for. And if like me you have a formal wedding and a heritage album to complete, you may end up turning to sticker letters or laser cut titles to get the traditional look you want.

I would highly recommend this book for anybody who believes s/he"can't" letter nicely.

Summary: a MUST have!!
Review: This book is a scrapbooking staple! The lettering styles are diverse and you can find one for virtually ANY page. Not only will it give you the "secrets" of creative lettering (surprisingly simple), it'll stimulate your own creativity! I ran out and bought a mechanical pencil and TONS of Prismacolor pencils (look for sales on the kits at local craft/art supply stores). I was completely hooked. Now I'm on to using watercolors and they are GORGEOUS! No one can believe that I did this incredible and unique lettering. Order NOW!!

Summary: Creative Lettering: An Art Form All Its Own
Review: This book is truly amazing. It is so helpful for making scrapbooks. Everyone marvels at the lettering job that this book has helped me with. I also have used the techniques to make signs and cards and things of that nature. A lot of creative lettering books that I have seen have really boring fonts, but this book has really really fun lettering styles. I mean, there are styles for Christmas, Halloween, flowery ones, Back To School, and just some really fun swirly ones. If you are into scrapbooking or just need something to help you make invitations for that big upcoming party, I really recommend buying this book. Unfortunately I lost my copy, but since I liked it so much I am going to buy it again! Enjoy!!!

Summary: Great Ideas
Review: This book really does help your scrapbook pages come alive. I have found it to really help layout my pages. It offers so many different styles and fonts that you never run out of ideas. It may be intimidating to you at first, but with practice you too can create beautiful lettering and it's fun too!

Summary: ...
Review: This book was a huge disappointment, and is about to be returned.
Unfortunately, I based my purchase on the title -- all the fonts you can use for various crafts. Instead,I found flaky alphabets great for scrapbooking and cards, but nothing else I can imagine.
But my main complaint is that, unlike angel companies/authors, this book clearly states that the buyer can *ONLY* use the fonts, etc., for personal use. In other words, purchasing the book won't help you if you want to legally sell handmade greeting cards or scrapbook templates at a crafts fair, etc. That's just greedy on the part of the author and publisher. Although I certainly understand and support that you couldn't sell the alphabet fonts, etc., or produce something in mass quantities, I can't fathom why you can't legally make and sell something using a few of the fonts. That just seems chintzy. But the fonts are only suitable for scrapbooks, anyway, so there really isn't a problem. This book is going right back to Amazon. YUCK!

Summary: Good Reference Book
Review: This book was pretty good. All the pages are in color and you can photocopy the letterings and put them in your own scrapbooks. It also gives you examples of what the lettering will look like on an actual scrapbook page.

I'd wished she had more samples, I mean there were lots but they all looked kinda the same but with something added to them.
