Review: "The Craft of the Japanese Sword" is a fine example of what a book can accomplish with the collaberation of an enthusiast who does his homework and artisans of the craft. The inclusion of the technical aspects of metal composition and blade formation, all the way to the polishing techniques was brilliant. On the down side, There could have been more information on Handle manufacture and wrapping. All in all, a fine book geared to the beginner and enthusiast

Review: A great book to show, in just as much details as your able to understand, exactly what goes into the production of these beautiful blades. For the young bladesmith wannabe I'd list this as required reading.

Summary: This book is excellent for beginners to learn about swords.
Review: I know a little about Japanese swords but not all the details of how they were made. This book is a great beginning for those who want to understand the manufacturing processes of a Japanese sword. I have only one complaint, that the pictures are not in color; B&W prints are good but sometimes color can show more details. It's a good buy.

Review: I received this as a birthday gift from a savvy friend (right choice!) While not a scholarly study of earlier blades, it completes any serious library on the subject. Its discussions of history, connoisseurship, forging, polishing, furnishing and care succeed in addressing any lingering questions.

Review: Otímo livro, para quem quer ter uma ideia de como se faz espadas japonesas. Para quem esta interesado nesta arte é uma otima pedida. Para quem não quer fazer mas adora espadas é perfeito, pois com as informações aqui contidas você vai ser capaz de saber diferenciar espadas ruins (que geralmente se ve por ai), de espadas bem feitas. Uma otima pedida para quem esta pensando em comprar uma espada japonesa, e não ser enganado com as milhares de copias falsas que se ve por ai. Por fim cuidado o comentario pode ser em português, mas o livro é em inglês.

Review: This book gives good information and has a lot of good pictures to show you what they are talking about. The first few pages are in color but the rest are in black and white. If you are interested in swordsmithing then you should read this book.
