Summary: An Excellent Bathroom Reader
Review: A Treasury of White House Tales does an adequate job of chronicling some of the more outlandish stories and anecdotes of presidential history. It is organized into self contained chapters bound by an interesting story concerning a particular president or by a theme including many. Experienced presidential historians will find nothing groundbreaking, but those seeking an better understanding of the quirks of those who have occupied the White House. Chapter 13 explains what individual presidents thought of their office during their time as president. As James Garfield said of the White House, " My God! what is there in this place that a man should ever want to get in?" The same cannot be said of this book.

Summary: Fun book!
Review: This is a great book for reading in those spare moments. For me, it was not the sort of book I'd read in one or two sittings -- just a chapter here and a chapter there while waiting in a doctor's office, or sitting at the Barber shop, or reading a quick chapter before bed.

It is not intellectually challenging -- it's not meant to be. It is an enjoyable, easy to read book that is filled with interesting, little-known facts.
