Summary: Excellent, fast paced overview
Review: A great book to use for high school reading. In this day and age, it is probably good for the college student. A quick overview of what has turned out to be a SUCCESS project in South Korea. That nation would not be here otherwise1 This by one who was there in 50 - 51 and then later in '68-69.

Summary: If you like your prose purple...
Review: I found this book to be polemic as all get out. The monograph was a black and white portrayal of history told in a Cowboys and Indians style that was frustrating to read if the reader is looking for depth and ambiguity in the subject.
In the interests of keeping it positive: if you like your prose purple, if you like your journalism yellow, if you love reading the The Sun, and are glued to Fox News, then this is the book for you!

Summary: Excellent book
Review: I rate this book 3 stars because it portrays the true conflict of the Korean War, but it doesn't really give a lot of detail. When I read a book it should "paint" a vivid image but all I see is a blank canvas.

Summary: Excellent, fast paced overview
Review: This is not as detailed as most of Mr. Leckie's books but it still provides a good overview of the Korean War. This book does not go into great details of the battles but does cover the political difficulties of the war including McArthur's dismissal. The book does a good job explaining the many dificulties dealing with the Koreans in the long process to settle a peace between the two nations.
