Rating: Summary: review Review: actually, the one about the old bermuda inn is very true. I worked there a few years back- and a lot of weird stuff happened. Every morning the chairs would be re-arranged on the tables even though we didnt put them in that order when we left at night. The picture that is hanging up by the staircase was just eerie- it really did feel like her eyes were stairing at you- i dont know, maybe I am just a believer and have a thing for old ghost stories-
Rating: Summary: This book is ok, but have seen better on topic of SI Review: good value but I did not see all these wonderful pictures?
Rating: Summary: Where's the Beef? Review: I bought this book due to my interest in NYC, I thought it looked interesting, once I got home to read it I relized that the author wrote for the worst Newspaper in NYC the Staten Island, Advance, this is what the author basis all her information on, S.I. Advance article. I dont think that the S.I. Advance is a Reliable source of information hence this book has info that is not a good source of information, Great reader for entertainment purposes but not to be taken seriously, oh yea, I even looked into some of these claims, I was told at the Conference House by the groundskeepers that "NO GHOSTS ARE THERE, NEVER WHERE ANY". Go to these places yourself and ask.
Rating: Summary: review Review: I have lived on Staten Island nearly my entire life and never knew it's history. Not only does Ms. Macken share ghost stories, humorous ones too, she presents alot of history which makes her book very interesting. Hope she writes another one about the Island soon.
Rating: Summary: Ghosts & History Too! Review: I have lived on Staten Island nearly my entire life and never knew it's history. Not only does Ms. Macken share ghost stories, humorous ones too, she presents alot of history which makes her book very interesting. Hope she writes another one about the Island soon.
Rating: Summary: This book is loaded with photos! Review: I think this book is great! The author is a talented writer and has illustrated the book with plenty of photos. Don't know how the previous reviewer missed them - he must have had his eyes closed! Can't wait to visit the places Ms. Macken writes about and P.S. it's kind of hard for an author to provide information that PROVE ghosts exist!
Rating: Summary: I dont think so Review: This pamphlet-size book is informative and well-written. However, I do wish the author had included a photo of the Vanderbilt mausoleum.
