Review: Even if this is all true,and I don't believe it to be..So what? If there where any great accomplishments made by black africans ,they don't seem to be doing any thing for black people today.every civilizations that ever was, rose and fell and left little behind them except ruins.Things are always evolving,knowledge is found and lost and found again,this has happened many times.Rome was great,Greece was great and soon the white western world will be history..so everybody chill ....and get ready for the next evolution......only the fittest have ever lived to pass there DNA....so if you are reading this ,then your ancestors ,what ever your race, rocked! Review: Any author who claims any plausibility for the idea that the ancient Egyptians were "black" is simply not worth reading. Anybody who could even tolerate such a claim can answer the following question for me: When I was at the Egyptian Museum in Cairo, and I viewed the various artifacts that were dug up out of King Tut's tomb in the Valley of the Kings, and I saw various depictions of King Tut in his chariot in battle against his enemies, why was King Tut's skin tone a light golden brown, while the skin tone of his enemies was a very dark black? I guess Richard Poe has never been to the Egyptian Museum. Before I draw any ire from the neo-racists of the Afrocentrist school, please consider that I am neither "white" nor "black", neither "European" nor "African". What I am is an American and a seeker of Truth and Honesty, and I recognize the very deep threat that so many of the Afrocentrists (and their ridiculous neo-racism) pose to Truth and Honesty in their tawdry bid to denigrate western civilization and remake world history in their own image.

Summary: Were the Egyptians White?
Review: First, please disregard my stars; I couldn't submit this note unless I filled in that field, and I haven't read the book. Instead:To the reader from London who asserted that a trip to Egypt and viewings of the ancient artwork prove that the ancient Egyptians were not Black "at least not the way African Americans want them to be"--you're bogged down in a tangent. Anybody who has spent time in any Ethiopian community has seen every phenotype (physical feature) presented in ancient Egyptian artwork--the full range of features from full/strong to skinny/long noses, kinky to loose hair, dark to cafe au lait skin; body types of generally slim folks, of course, are the same. What you will NOT find, with the exception of artwork made of foreign invaders such as the Heka Khasut or the occasional foreigner who became a wife or official, is PINK skin or PALE hair. Europeans, and most African Americans, are generally unfamiliar with the range of African phenotypes, and tend to assume that "typical" West African features (also a generalisation) represent all Africans. This simply isn't so. Ethiopians, Somalians and some Nubians easily fit the range of the ancient Egyptians; some ancient Egyptians resemble other African types (Narmer and Thuthmose come to mind). But West Africans don't look like many of South Africa's nationalities; nor do Masai resemble Ethiopians or Nigerians... and so on. Angry comments such as the ones from Mr. London are reflective of the very emotionalism that his letter condemns. The debate on ancient Egypt is going to continue for a long time, but two things are clear: 1) the ancient Egyptians were not White, but 2) their features are all easily encompassed by the peoples who inhabit the Horn of Africa today.

Review: Here we go again -history subjectively redone. But the proof is indeed in the pudding for instance The Germans build Mercedes and the Italians build Ferraris, but can anyone show me a wheel from Africa please! And this nonsense that Egypt was black not Semitic is quite silly - the black in Egypt were slaves and yes some Semitics do have wooly hair -- so does Jacky Mason so what!

Review: I was expecting to be annoyed by Richard Poe's book, thought it would be a cheap attempt to capitalize on the "Black Athena" controversy (hey, controversy sells books). And in a way I was right but it's a good book. ...

Summary: Explanation on the last review.
Review: I would like to clarify something from my previous review written on 4 December 2000, so that nobody is misled by it. The reason why the evidence in Black Spark, White Fire tends to lean heavily on the Afrocentric side, is because PAST and some current conventional understanding and analysis of ancient Egypt, according to the book, has been subjected to negative racial attitutes, scholarly partiotism and double standards from predominantly mainstream Egyptology. Once you remove such double standards, racial bias, and scholarly patriotism, then the reader will realize that many arguments made by Afrocentrics can be backed by evidence and this makes their arguments worth taking seriously! A new encompassing Egyptology, as recommended by the author, is mostly needed! I do not mind giving the book another five star.

Review: To the reader from (lost) angelos, I dont see your real name so why point the finger at poe, also just like the rest, the truth hurts you i see. For one, European history dictates that they were civilizing foreigners who never invaded their lands until the Europeans invaded theirs. Hmmm u will have a tough time with convincing everyone that the condition of the africans is just some third world ignorous on their part, for one there is too much proof that shows other wise and that also shows that for the most part Europeans and the nomadic tribes were the cause of African societies as they are now. Of course a charlatan like u would not do any real homework becos u are too busy being a armchair intellect. Now the last time i checked, when ppl invade your land without reason they were considered barberic and uncivilized but yet u rightwingers celebrate this as if u were and are the exception, example, bush invasion of irac hmmmm very justifiable evidence, what evidence?! Tsk Tsk i guess the french, bristish, germans, portugese, and a couple of other ignorant Euro tribes had a free pass to come to africa and change the black ppls speaking habits and cultural understandings and replace it with some mud soup belief. And of course when u kill off most of the leading elders and adults the children will inherit ignorance becos of the state of their ppl and land due to invasion, but im sure a charlatan such as yourself at the very (least) knew that much right? Wrong! u like other fools who have been brainwashed by your insecure superiors refuse to take the black history back far enough to were there was no slavery of no sort u can only go as far as when your kind came to africa inslaving ppl and changing the way the black cultures related to each other, of course if u pass on a disease it will eventually spread in all departments of human relation (mental behavior). But since for most white ppl the world is black and white u will always overlook whats colored in black for whats colored in white which brings us back to your empty argument and unjustifiable attitude. Indeed, race is not a black problem, this is a white problem since we were never the ones discriminating about differences, that disease way of thinking and behaving were forced on black ppl. So in general, anything that is marked we the whites has to be taken with a grain of salt. Especially when it comes from a person who would not let a black person into his home to shower and eat probably. lmao! i am more than a name like i am more than a thing unlike most who still identify as such. lmao! Also the evidence of Africans already having flying devices is a fact but the idea by 18th century jargon was to keep their ppl out of harms way of the truth about nonwhite ppl who have been there and done that in different but similar ways, besides there arent too many black ppl getting all these things done to their bodies that they are to supposably hate, cant say the same for all these overly pride stricken white ppl. ...
