Review: This history book is as great as its predecessor (J.M. Roberts' A History Of The World) except it is less voluminous. It tells the same facts in less space. The essays are rather epic, while including all essential facts! A great buy!

Review: Well-written, well-organized, with a good balance of focus both on events and on underlying trends and causes. Many new insights (for this reader at least). I am not a history buff but have been totally absorbed in this book since opening it.
