Rating: Summary: out of the night that covers me..i am the captain of my soul Review: Those were the first and last sentences of his last words. It is a rather famous poem which describes simply how life can transcend beyond what is seen by the general media or the judgemental prying eyes.He did much good for his country only to eventually be told he was not good enough to be the best. Not knowing how to accept defeat he eventually went after victory in another way. I have a little blood in my mouth to this day. The navy had to destroy their work records of me before they could discharge me. I am now a success despite them trying to ruin my life. I see where he is coming from. If I would have made a few turns I chose not to make, I could have shared his fate. Thank you to those who tried to destroy me and started to build me into the person I am today. To many sorry reenlistments and years of missery...cheers.
Rating: Summary: The Devil Review: What brought Time McVeigh to do the unthinkable? From the beginning he had all the attributes of a fine young man. His home life, his friends, his grandfather he so loved were all that many children could only wish for. When is it that infectious germ burrows into the brain and begins its cancerous growth? Child killers,Rapist's,Serial Killers many times emerge from a very troubled past. When you observe McVeigh's idyllic childhood how can you understand how a horrendous crime would be committed by someone seeming to have all the attributes Americans pride themselves with. Was it the War that fertilized this germ of hatred? He was deeply touched by the first men that he killed as a combatant. All these things could have added up to create this demon that had been such a fine child and young man. I beleive this type of person was best described as by Bill Cosby regarding the senseless brutal slaying of his son. He was told that God sometimes call on us in strange ways. Mr Cosby responded "God had nothing to do with this, this was the work of the devil" I have never forgotten that statement and so may it be.
Rating: Summary: Book may be the truth of what happened Review: You cannot be certain. However, I am good at logic and I did not find indications that Timothy McVeigh and\or the authors were not telling it like it is. The book leaves no doubt that Timothy was responsible for the OKC bombing. Although, a horrible act, after reading the book, I did not feel that Timothy was a naturally bad person. He wasn't after personal gain. I just wish he would have understood that Federal workers are just like most citizens and not his enemy. Then, perhaps we never would have heard of Timothy McVeigh. The book leaves me to believe the bombing would never have occured if he had stayed in the Army and the book indicates he would have except for the bad timing of certain testing and tryouts. Per the book, he was an outstanding soldier.
