Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Excellent Resource and a Good Read
Review: A highly detailed book. Author seems to have done an outstanding job of researching the topic. Many interesting portions of the book devoted to the social context of beer making and drinking. Lots of good pictures, graphs and tables illustrating beer making and drinking trends. As a brewer, I found this info fascinating, but I wished for even more detail on brewing procedures and outcomes. I learned a lot about types of beer consumed in England during this time period, facts I haven't learned from many other beer books. Highly recommended for any brewer's library.

Summary: Thorough and thoughtful review. Excellent resource.
Review: This book is a scholarly treatise of brewing from 1600 detailing techniques, tools and buildings reasoning from the remaining brewing houses and records. Ms. Sambrook has created an excellent resource for the historical brewer
