Like most Americans I am quite ignorant about China and this book helps to correct that. If you liked Gone With the Wind you will like this novel.

Summary: A enchanting piece of historical fiction
Review: Lisa Huang Fleischman creates such a capitivating character in Jade Virture whose story is so compelling that I found it difficult to put this book down. I was sad to finish this book because I wanted to know more about the life of Jade Virtue, her family and friends, and the history of China. Ms. Fleischman's talented writing through the telling of Jade Virtue's story in the first person brings to life an era of Chinese history that has since past. A must read!
