Review: For someone who are not anglo-saxon this book is very interesting and easy to read. A good book on the special golden age of piracy (not the first!) in Atlantic (but forgetting Indian ocean). A very good book that everyone should have in his bibliotheek.

Summary: Pirates as cultural heroes
Review: Great social and cultural analysis of pirates. Rediker's style makes it easy to read. Slightly repetitive at parts but not enough to detract from the overall book. Explains the romanticism of pirates as rebels against authoritarianism and class discrimination of their day.

Warning: Not a narrative about the pirates of this age as much as an analysis of them.
