Rating: Summary: Tracy all grown up Review: In my opinion, For the love of Money did what a sequel suppose to do, We found out what happened to Tracy. She said in the book she was not trying to be wild like in FlyGirl. I think people are mad she didn't sleep around as much as she did in Flygirl, so they call For the love of money boring. I guess it's just like Tracy said on page 326, her fans were gonna hate on her. The only reason I didn't rate the book higher, is because i'm just tired of the main characther being a big time star, other than that it was all good.
Rating: Summary: FLYY GIRL SO GOOD THIS WAS SO BORING Review: IM 13 YEARS OLD THIS BOOK IS SO STUPID IT DIDNT HAVE YOU FLIPPEN THE PAGES LIKE I DID ON FLYY GIRL. IM 13 YEARS OLD AND TRACY WAS BETTER TELLEN US YOUNG GIRLS DONT JUST CARE ABOUT THE NEW FAION TRENDS, MONEY AND GOLD. IN "FOR THE LOVE OF MONEY " IT DOES NOT HAVE YOU FLIPPEN THE PAGE. IM SORRY OMAR TYREE THIS BOOK WAS NOT GOOD. I RECOMMEND YOU TO READ "THE COLDEST WINTER EVER" IT WOULD HAVE FLIPPEN THE PAGES SO FAST. I DONT RECOMMEND ANY ON TO PURCHASE THIS BOOK IF YOU CAN BORROW IT THE BORROW IT DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY.
Rating: Summary: Pretty dull and boring Review: I had heard that Omar was a decent writer, but I am so glad I got this book from the library instead of spending money on it! The storyline was poorly developed, the main character's life was completely unrealistic, and the dialogue -- almost laughable in some places (where it really wasn't supposed to be funny). I think Omar should have experienced living in Hollywood before he wrote this book; I'm sure the black actresses who really are trying to make it there would like to believe it's as easy as it was for Tracy. Also, did Will Smith have an investment in this novel? He must have, with all the references to his Philly roots. Bottom line: you have to care about a character to want to read the book. Tracy was so shallow and egocentric that I didn't even care how it ended.
Rating: Summary: TOO MUCH TOO SOON Review: Omar Tyree, I am sorry but your book is simply not believable. The writing is good but there is no plot, no mystery and nothing interesting in it. Now we know that you did not really write this book. It is clear that the person who wrote this book was the one who lived it, TRACY. As for a storyline, this book did not have one. The events and action simply were not believable. Now what is written is meant to be the real life of Tracy but I don't believe it. Most of all, Tracy did not want to hint that she was anything like what her life was in Flyy Girl (early teen) that she over compensated and made out like she spent most of her twentysomething years without any real man in her life. Additionaly, she states that she became a millionaire while about 28 years old and after only about 3 years in Hollywood. By then she was writing, starring and semi-directing roles for herself and others. Sorry, not believable.
Rating: Summary: Hated it!!!!!!!! Review: I LOVED "Flyy girl" and I was sooooo happy when I heard about "For the love of money". But, boy was I upset at this book!!! I wanted my money back. This book was bad as was "Sweet St. Louis" and I was scared to buy "Just say no!" because of my last two books by Omar Tyree. This book is nothing like "Flyy girl" and the poems in it ...too. This book feels like he just threw it together because everybody wanted a conclusion to Tracy and her life. He could have kept this book though.
Rating: Summary: Negative Star, really Review: What is the point of this awful book? It's not even so bad that it's good, it's just bad. Where is the conflict in the story? What is the point of reading it? Why is it that Tracy just happens to be the all around best person there ever was, and her one flaw and problem is her past (which is brought up ad nauseum)And then, to remind us that it is Omar the Great penning this fanciful flight into absolute inanity, the reader is presented with lines such as "You should write this book yourself, Tracy" (any self respecting writer WOULD do her own story, no matter what, because, DUH no one can capture what she felt better than she can. There is no way that Omar Tyree [playing the character of the invisible author] could be privy to most of her conversations; because the majority of her babble was just a waste of space. If he WAS a good writer, there's no way he would have included all that unnecessary filler, and he would have gone straight to the conflict had there been one. ) And then there's the self congratulatory tone of Omar. Tracy, ofcourse cannot write her own memoirs (heaven forbid!) because she's too busy. Using another writer is out of the question because Omar is "wonderful with dialogue, and he really knows how to set up the situations well" Insert eye roll here Okay, so he's the great writer, while Tracy, the Masters Degree having (please tell us in what field again, Tracy, we didn't hear it enough!), English Teacher, Screenwriter-turned-Actress is only, well, mediocre in her writing skills when compared to Omar, the epitome of a great writer. This book makes very little sense, and frankly, I'm heated that I spent so much time reading it. The only redeeming feature is probably the little insight it gives into "making it" in Hollywood. The rest of it is pure fantasy, complete trash, and an embarrassment to the written word. If OT happens to have a Masters Degree, shame on him. He should know better! This book reads as his aspirations for his own career, self promoter that he is. Where Tracy is described insert Omar. Perhaps he’s the one that wants to make Flyy girl into the movie, he just needs to convince his audience that it ought to be done. He’s the one who’d like to pen the script. And perhaps he’s the one who’d like to star in the movie—possibly in drag, or perhaps as Victor… The nerve of him to repeat that Flyy girl should be a movie. No it shouldn't. So please stop telling us that it should. Instead of interjecting praises about his dubious talent he ought to have revised that ne'er first draft that he passed off to the public as a completed novel. Anyone and I mean, ANYONE who thought that this book was the least bit interesting ought to be sent back to school where they need to learn that just because a person is black and could string a few sentences together doesn't mean that that writer is automatically great--nor does it make the work an example of great black writing. Sheesh. It's great when us black folks stick together, but this is ridiculous...
Rating: Summary: Excellent Review: This was the second book by Omar Tyree that I read. The fact that others didn't like the book was their opinion but in my opinion this book was a page turner. I really enjoyed reading it.
Rating: Summary: SOMETIMES A GOOD IDEA SHOULD STAY AN IDEA! Review: WHAT IN THE WORLD WAS OMAR THINKING. I RAN OUT TO GET THIS BOOK THE MOMENT I HEARD IT CAME OUT AND THAT WAS A BIG MISTAKE. I WAS ALWAYS THOUGHT A SEQUEL INCLUDED ALMOST THE SAME CHARACTERS AND THIS BOOK MENTIONED MAYBE 3 OF THE SAME PLUS HER FAMILY IT WAS AWFUL. I REALLY THINK HE SHOULD REWRITE A SEQUEL THIS TIME BEING MORE REALISIC THE WHOLE THING OF HER BEING A MOVIE STAR WAS ROO UNREAL TO BE THE SEQUEL. AND EVEN IN THE END SHE STILL DIDN'T HAVE ANYBODY. AT LEAST, IF SHE WASN'T GOING TO BE WITH VICTOR LET HIM HAVE SOME SIGNIFICANCE IN THE DUMB BOOK. THE BOOK DID NOT HOLD MY INTEREST AT ALL I WILL NEVER BUY ANY OF HIS BOOKS AGAIN WITHOUT IT BEING A HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
Rating: Summary: worst book by Omar Tyree Review: I rate this book no stars , it was the worst book that I've brought in a long time. I had the nerve to purchase a hard cover based on the authors name alone assuming that the book would be off the hook being it was a sequel of flyy Girl and that was very good , my advise to the author is to refund everyones money that that purchased this book including myself. next time I will go on line and read up on the book before it's purchased.
Rating: Summary: THE WORST! Review: This book was the worst! I have been trying to read it for almost two months now. I've read several books in the meantime and I only plan to continue reading "For The Love of Money" because I started it. Omar Tyree has left a bitter taste on me when it comes to his books now. I have read Flyy Girl in a matter of no time and I wish he would have just left well enough alone. I am very dissapointed with this book, and what is up with the sorry poetry that Tracy was trying to write. I was just not feeling anything about it and I am sorry I brought it. Sorry Omar, but you've bombed this time.
