Rating: Summary: Kissinger's Bias Review: No doubt that this is the best diplomatic history yet written. Yet, I should say he shows his bias, which developed from his experience of being discriminated against as a Jewish adolescent in Germany, when he reconsiders the world order in the last chapter. This also amplifies his analysis of Japan as a former Axis ally, in which he mentions the Prime Minister MIYAZAWA in page 827. I should say it shows Dr. Kissinger's more superficial understanding of Japan, compared with that of Europe. With this bias to old Axis countries, he might have backlashed against Germany and Japan, and it also affected his compassionate approach to China, which has been justified by America's ambiguous exceptionalism.
Rating: Summary: Insightful on Past American/European Foreign Policy Review: Read It!!! Dr. Kissenger presents a truly insightful introduction to past American Foreign Policy and how it has influenced and been influened by other nations. At the same time, he presents a historical survey of European diplomacy beginning with The Thirty Year's War to the end of the Cold War. He concludes with his own analysis of future global diplomacy. Though not the definitive work on the subject, I recommend this book for two reasons: Information and Events. BE ADVISED this is not a history of statecraft per se; however, it does cover enough political history of the past 3 centuries so the general reader can follow and enjoy it. I recommend this book for anyone who wants to learn more about the political world we inhabit. Reading DIPLOMACY can help one have a better grasp of today's foreign policy issues. In addition, I recommend Dr. Kissenger's book because it brings YOU, the reader, into some behind-the-scenes events that helped to shape America and world we live in. People, like Dr. Kissenger, who have helped to influence history can do this; however, not many people can write well enough to interest a general audience. Fortunately, he does. I enjoyed feeling like I was there when great political events like the Beijing Summit or the Paris Peace Accords happened. I think you would to. So, if you're interested in having an above average knowledge of foreign affairs, I suggest you read DIPLOMACY. If you're a student of Political Science, History, International Affairs, or some other related field, I highly advise you read DIPLOMACY. Either way, I think you'll enjoy it.

Rating: Summary: Diplomacy, by Henry Kissinger, a fine reading experience Review: Diplomacy is an absorbing book that captivates the reader in such a way that makes you read this book over and over again. This masterful analysis of almost 200 years of world diplomacy, is the most elegant study of Western diplomacy I have ever read, and those with an insterest on foreign affairs, may agree with me. Henry Kissinger, in a very detailed account of the art of diplomacy, exposes the very nature and principles of the foreign policy of United States. Brilliant in its analysis and without a doubt a classic, this book is the most important and influential work on foreign affairs in more than 40 years. I read it four times, and simply, this is a book that I will treasure for years.
Rating: Summary: LIES LIES LIES Review: Dispite the fact that history has been altered in this book, Kissinger fails to achive his goal, to propagandize the American tactic and policy of his era and after. The title of this this book book should be at least "Uncle Sam's Farm of animals".
