Rating: Summary: Good, but falls way short of previous titles.... Review: I enjoy Bill O'Reilly and have read his previous books with great interest. As a fan I must say this latest book, however, is a dissapointment. Quite frankly the book seemed pieced together in great haste in an attempt to release another book to sell before Christmas. There is so little factual information in this book I think I could have written it in a three day weekend. I read the thing cover to cover in two days and found it short of any new research, any new insight, or any useful material. It was still ok, but a dissapointment nevertheless.
Rating: Summary: Good book Review: It's quality reading. Not much new, but a joy to read.
Rating: Summary: Preaching to the choir Review: Hi, Bill.Your encounter with Bill Clinton was interesting. Thanks for sharing it. However, I can't image you retreating to Burger King. (White Castle, maybe. But not Burger King). There seemed to be common thread in your childhood recollections; you were basically a normal, Catholic version of Beaver Cleaver. On steroids, maybe. The statistics you shared on government waste are astounding. The Department of Education, for example, spending $53 billion each year while test scores flatline is illuminating, but not surprising. It's hard to imagine that you weren't the hot-shot of the station in Dallas. Okay, so you are a normal person after all. Its seems the obvious purpose of the book was to cast yourself as a populist. That you've done. But your contention that you are conservatie on some things and liberal on somethings didn't fly. At least not with me. Seems you're conservative on everything except SUVs. I can't help but wonder if you wrote the book or if you used a ghost writer. It's hard to imagine Bill O'Reilly having the luxuary of time to sit at a computer. But the book did carry your voice throughout. If you did, in fact, use a ghost writer, he or she did a superb work capturing your O'Reillyisms. Kenn
Rating: Summary: Once again, Bill is 'Right' on! Review: Good advice. I suspect the low ratings by some are because most liberals can't stand Mr. O'Reilly.
Rating: Summary: Not looking out for me Review: Yes, I actually read this book as part of a project to read and evaluate the slate of current political tomes. While less overtly political than some others - and than his previous books - O'Reilly's new self-help bent continues his themes of iconoclastic conservatism, and also, unfortunately, his style of bombast, pomposity and obsession. The obsession that O'Reilly - and many other conservative pundits - have toward Hillary Clinton is mistifying. Why not single out fellow NY Senator Charles Schumer - a much more vocal advisary? Because O'Reilly is, in the end, a self-aggrandizing bully. As I read his book I thought often of how O'Reilly would be willing to write me off almost immediately as a kook - simply because my views do not fall lock-step in with his. His attempts at projecting a softer image - from the title, the cover picture, and the attempt at concern for his fellow man - in the end collapse under his own inability to conceal his true nature - as a meanspirited blowhard who is only looking out for himself. One can only wonder when an overdue Limbaugh-esque fall from grace finds its way to O'Reilly.
Rating: Summary: Right Wing Agenda Review: This book is biased in so many ways. O'Reilly's agenda is completely clear in this book. If you are looking for a book with honest, fair conservative views, keep looking. I have not found one yet.
Rating: Summary: Before you read this book... Review: Don't waste your money and time on this book. You can do a better job by donating $15 to a charity, planting a tree, or feeding a hungry person. Still if you buy this book, read the chapter on Bill O'lielley in Al Frankens "Lies and the Lying Liars ...", FAIR articles on him at http://www.fair.org/media-outlets/o'reilly.html, Slate article at http://slate.msn.com/id/2087706/, or http://www.oreilly-sucks.com/. I am sure you'll get a fair and balanced view of this arrogant bully once you go through resources on both sides.
Rating: Summary: If I could give 0 stars, I would Review: Here is a guy who manages to show what an arrogant man he is even in his books. His writing is patronizing. Bottom Line - Everyone who disagrees with his way of thinking is not looking out for you ! He spends a whole chapter (atleast felt like that) criticizing Hillary Clinton. Just like on his TV show, he knows everything, can explain everything and everyone who disagrees with him is a pin-head. He repeatedly portrays the "FACTOR" (his TV show) as the one program in the TV world that is the embodiment of justice, fairness and balance. Which if you see it you know -it is not. The show is a perfect example of how to put down reasonable people by yelling at them, shouting w/out manners and how to "Spin" your opinion before the guest has had a chance to even voice his. I must admit his style of writing makes for an easy read though .
Rating: Summary: Drivel -- pure drivel Review: I honestly do not subscribe to either the Democratic nor Republican party, so I like to think of myself as a relatively partial observer. With that being said, this is quite possibly the worst waste of time and money you can buy. O'Reilly is an idiot and a liar, as anyone who has heard him speak can attest. And, unlike Al Frankens book, this was also particularly unentertaining. Please do not buy this book, you will regret it. If you must buy it, get the paperback version. It is cheaper and the paper is nearly soft enough to use as toilet paper when you're done, assuming you haven't already gouged your eyes out...
Rating: Summary: Amazing, beautiful, haunting, lovely Review: This is really an amazing buy, and I am anything but regretful for spending the 17 dollars I did. I have listened to it from beginning to end so many times over and over again, each time, it only gets more beautiful. Billie Holiday is an Icon, of blues music, of love music, of fast music, of slow music, of beautiful music, of heart-breaking music, of style. She has changed many lives with her immaculate voice. Lady Day used to say that she refused to sing the same song the same way, that each renidition must be unique on its own. On this wonderful compilation of romantic songs, entitled "LOVE SONGS," this talent for new ideas and styles is visible beyond description. "All Of Me" is beautiful, as is "You Go To My Head," "My Man," and "The Very Thought of You," but there is nothing like listening to a song like "If You Were Mine," or "The Man I Love," or, if you're in a mood to stomp your Kenny G cd's to the dirt, put on some "They Can't Take That Away From Me," pull out a wineglass, smash it against your face, and drink your blood. If you can't figure out how to slice your mouth open at the edges with pieces of broken glass, then take a knife, or, if you're a safe camper, a chainsaw, and enjoy some bloody chopping. Overall, I give this CD...FIVE STARS!
