Summary: Good book, not what I expected.
Review: First of all, lemme state that I bought this book and did read it! Second, it wasn't what I expected. O'Reilley starts out by stating his purpose of writing the book, helping people identify who in their life is truly there to help you, and who you would be better off without.

Most of the book is relating personal experiences in order to convey the message of the book in different situations (ie family, politics, friends etc)

However, a lot of the book was taking this perspective and applying it to political figures using Bill O'Reilley's personal observations, conversations, etc with political figures.

I personally think O'Reilly is one of the more objective, independent thinkers out there, and enjoyed the book. I wish it were longer, but I understand it's written for a layman's perspective.

I trust O'Reilly to cut through BS for himself and others, and therefore enjoyed the book. If you enjoy objective thinkers who aren't afraid to go after both sides (yes, including Bush) you'll enjoy this book for both the political commentary AND the applicable lessons to your own life in dealing with the people and figuring out "Who's Looking Out for You?"

Summary: Book good for compost
Review: If you have a puppy and you are looking for some paper to cover he floor of the kennel this is an excellent product to buy. The paper is of excellent quality.

Reading this book, you can't find a bigger liar than this guy. It seem that the strategy of the neocons is to lie whilst accusing their opponents of being liars. Strickly from the play book of German nihilist Nietzche. These are the real cowards who avoided fighting for their country but are able to convince their gullible publics that those who shed their blood and limbs are cowards for raising legitimate concerns about rushing to war. Not many seem to be able to call them on it.

This guy is one of Rupert Murdock attack dogs. He earns his money by selling his journalist soul. The tactic is to bark at examples of ineptitude within in the society overblow their importance in expressions of thunder and use them as examples of liberal folly. On the other the more serious issues like misleading the country about the real reasons of war are minimise and explained away.

I don't blame them they have been able to develop a cottage industry of books, radio talk shows, passed off as news, from an American public increasing becoming toolazy to be distracted from their reality shows to read serious stuff.

Summary: Good strategies for recognizing who we can trust...or not
Review: Bill O'Reilly brings it all out in this book, including the mistakes he (like all of us) made in his life...a telling self-portrait. This book is a good reminder that it's not the mistakes we make, it's how we learn from those mistakes that counts. Too many of us, myself included, have spent way too much time trying to benefit from people who don't give us the time of day...while ignoring or placing on the outskirts of our lives people who have exhibited the will and the means to be our friends or mentors. I read this book in a single sitting...it is well written and highly entertaining, while stressing important strategies for recognizing who our real friends are and who those are who are out to defeat us at every turn. I highly recommend this book.

Summary: Pointless naval-gazings of a lying, paranoid megalomaniac
Review: I used to think there was nothing worse than Bill's show, but a few pages into this wretched book I realized I was wrong. After reading a few chapters of this unreadable groaner, you'll be yelling at Bill to "shut up", just like he does to all his guests. Pure, pointless garbage, thrown into print to rake in more cash from the simps who buy O'Reilly's obnoxious act. I really feel sorry for fans of this man. What an absolute zero.

Summary: What a waste of good paper.
Review: For all his righteous bluster and supposed lack of spin, he is obviously biased. It cracks me up that people take this guy seriously, given that unless he can cut you off he runs away like a sissy.

"Shut up!", seems to be his best way of quieting a worthy opponent. He claims that others slander or libel him when he constantly attacks and lies about those who disagree with him.

He is a classic example of the right-wingnut constituency that listens to him. It is kinda sad that a man like this has any audience much less the nationwide audience Fox gives him.

Buy Al Franken's book instead!

Summary: O'Reilly thinks his **** doesn't stink!
Review: O'Reilly's problem is that he has crowned himself Factmaster
of the World. Lotsa arrogance, no humility. He believes
that his **** doesn't stink. It does.

Summary: Don't do me any favors, O'Reilly
Review: I can't tell you how frustrated I am with being a conservative republican with guys like O'Reilly running around. He makes it harder for me to present and debate my conservative belief by taking away any sort of credibility my political ideology might have who those who disagree with me. I guess I could just shout "Shut up!" at them. Who's looking out for me, Bill O'Reilly? It's not you. Stop "helping" me.

Summary: A Pox on the Publishing World
Review: Mr. O'Reilly finally stopped braying on his tv and radio shows long enough to put pen to paper in his latest diatribe. Armed with a cocktail of pedaogy and propagandist pontification, he takes aim at everyone with whom he has a problem. According to O'Reilly, the unholy trinity of the media, the legal system and government are to blame for 99% of the nation's woes. Unfortunately, he fails to realize that these three institutions, while not perfect by any means (and hypocritically, he is a member of the media), are the very institutions that provide some form of check and balance to unbridled individualism. If a society is to function properly, with the rights of those outside the majority to be protected, then the entities he excoriates are a necessary reality. Mr. O'Reilly prefers to dwell in the Hades of social relations- dividing the world in monochromatic terms and never missing an opportunity to ironically deindividualize people by reducing them to labels. His purported "toughman" exterior appears to be easily pierced by the likes of Al Franken, whose recent book certainly took Mr. O'Reilly to task, along with other conservative ideologues. As more people recognize that Mr. O'Reilly is a propagandist masquerading in the guise of a "journalist," his popularity will diminish; the intellectual emperor has no clothes.

Summary: 183 reviews & maybe 15 of the negatives actually read it.
Review: i just listened to both the al franken and bill o'rielly interviews on the fresh air program streaming from the website. Bill was absolutly right, the contrast in the tone between the two from Ms. Gross is absurdly biased.

unlike most of the wacked out people who've "reviewed" this book, i've actually read it and found the content truthful and inspiring. Others here are being intellectually dishonest with the reviewing system and its readers by reviewing without reading. Its really pathetic.

To those petty people: you'd better continue buying your frankin and clinton books by the dozen 'cause thats the only way that these books can be on top of any list other than the most defamatory or top history revisionists of all time.

To clear thinkers: give this book a try, its a good read and will help you see through the b.s. others are pushing.
