Rating: Summary: Racist Oreilly .... Review: Bill Oreilly called Mexicans "Wetbacks" on his show. I called , mailed and emailed FOX News to let them know that he should be reprimended for this.He is a despicable excuse for a so called leader in the journalistic world. One day he will get the point. BTW, I dont think his book was meant for anything other than to line his pockets with cash. I want to throw up every time he ends his show with " The spin stops here because we're looking out for you " GAG!
Rating: Summary: More important than people think Review: Even if you disagree with O'Reilly politically, he is dead on about society. Most people are not looking out for you. Do you think people in charge of major corparations give a damn about the average worker? Do you think the board of education cares about their teachers? I don't think so. O'Reilly's book makes you aware of bad people in society, it is good advice.
Rating: Summary: Hypocrital Racist Idiot. Review: ...the book is nothing but pure conservative trash! If Bill O'Reilly was looking out for us, why does he use racism ("Mexicans Are Wetbacks") to prove his points. ...
Rating: Summary: NOBODY is looking out for you? Review: This book was definitely not what I expected. I guess I really expected a good informative book. I do listen to Bill O'Reilly everyday (doesn't mean I like the guy) and basically this book is a rehash of his radio show (how many times to I have to hear his hatred of George Clooney).
No one can say this book was ghost written.. the wording and phrases are definitely Bill O'Reilly. Even the book sleeve was written by Bill O'Reilly (media powerhouse? unstoppable truth teller?... Who else could write that?). What I got from the book is that not too many people are looking out for you. Most of this book centers on Bill O'Reilly and not YOU. He again goes off on George Clooney, Jennifer Lopez, and various other celebrities. He claims this book is for YOU. This book seams to be for Bill O'Reilly to cash in on YOU. The book is basic common sense and nothing new. It has the feel of being written in his spare time until he decided he had enough pages for a book. Do we really need Bill O'Reilly to tell us that the Government isn't looking out for us. He's just another media person who talks and talks and nothing is ever resolved. To think that he single handily ruined George Clooneys movie career is idiotic and is a waste of paper. Is this helpful to anyone? Who cares? Do you care? He talks about the Elite Media as if he was running a radio show from his parent's basement.
Bill O'Reilly basically wrote this book to tell everyone how stupid they are if everyone used some common sense we would all be better off. The people who are buying this book only buy it because they are followers of Bill O'Reilly OR those who don't like him and are just curious. I was curious (I do agree with him sometimes) but I beleive the book is badly written and I would suggest listening to his radio show or watch his TV show if you want to find out his opinions. Don't waste money on a book that claims to be some miracle answer to all the world's problems or even to claim that is contains some glorious revelation on "Who Looking Out For You." In all 212 pages we find out that the Church (might be) and your friends (if you pick the right ones) will look out for you....
So to sum up: The book is basically Bill O'Reilly pointing fingers, telling people off (his trademark style of journalism)and telling us what we should do (which again is common sense). BUT the real question is ... do we have even a clue as to who Bill O'Reilly is. Who is this person who claims to be looking out for us. Bill O'Reilly wants to tell us how we should raise our children (again common sense and those who don't use it shouldn't be parent's in the first place) but doesn't even tell us if he has children. He's even too afraid to mention anything about himself on the inside flap of the jacket (usually where it says.. the author resides... with his wife and two lovely children...) Something as simple as that is left out. How can you trust what someone is saying if they can't even open up to their reader.... (just my opinion)
Rating: Summary: O'Reilly's critics sometimes harsh Review: After reading some of the previous reviews, I feel I have to add this disclaimer: I am not an O'Reilly fan. I don't like his show. My political beliefs are very liberal and I never expected to be on his side. That aside, after reading an excerpt of this book adapted for publication in The Parade in Sunday newspapers across the country, my curiousity was peaked. Something in there spoke to what I was feeling. So I bought the book and read it. Reading it was like having my eyes opened. Why was I continuing to be nice to the "toxic" people in my life -- the friend who started dating my ex-fiance after I broke up with him, the self-centered friend from high school who thought of herself only, the people who were around when things were good for me, but not when the chips were down? As O'Reilly points out in his book, these people weren't looking out for me. I stopped being there for them. And it's made me so much happier. On the other hand, I do have friends who "would bleed" for me, as Bill puts it in his book, and I realized while I'm a good friend to them, I needed to do better. It forced me to re-examine my friendships and relationships and put in more effort. He also writes of the government and some of his experiences in the work place -- things that anyone in any profession can appreciate. And he also shows examples of the people you do want to surround yourself with in life.
Rating: Summary: In agreement with Tampa Reviewer Review: You dont have to agree with everything that this author says but I do respect what he says and that for the most part it is true. I thought the book was an excellent look at what is going on around us, though some people tend to wear blinders. As for the prior reviewer recommending Nightmares Echo. i also agree with this too. this is a great book that also shows what goes on right under our noses whether we want to "see" it or not. For those of you that think Mr. O'Reilly is out of his league with his book, perhaps you should read the following books: Nightmares echo, A Child Called it...You will see what the moral fabric of our world is like I say way to go Mr. O'Reilly!!
Rating: Summary: Straight Up Reading Review: Even if you do not agree with everything the man has to say, you must admit that he makes great points in some areas. I do believe that he is looking out for Americans, he sheds alot of light on shady government and tries to hold people accountable for their actions. It is obvious, because so many people are afraid to be guests on his show. He pulls no punches there, and this carries forward also to his book.
Rating: Summary: Classic Bill O'Reilly Review: This book is classic Bill O'Reilly. But it's not nearly as good as his other book "Those Who Trespass," which is chock full of violence and lots of juicy sex scenes. Check it out.
Rating: Summary: Pornographer turned know it all Review: Bill O'Really used to be a pornographer...check out his novel THOSE WHO TRESPASS which contains graphic porno scenes. Now he's a know it all right winger who spews hatred, even referring to Mexicans on his show as "wetbacks" Anybody who listens to this guy is seriously uneducated.
Rating: Summary: Pompous Gasbag does another smeller Review: It's not that O'Reilly has splotchy skin -- it's that he's a thin-skinned jerk. It's not that he can't remember which lie he tells from day to day, it's that he's an egomaniac who forgets that people can play the tape back and prove he's a liar when he denies he said what he said. It's not that this isn't a book, but that there isn't any content between the covers. Or Grey matter between the dolt's ears. But, my, he does love to posture and pose. He claimed for a long time to have won two Peabody awards for broadcast journalism. He lied. He didn't. Then he said he confused the Peabody with another award. Right. A 24K Phoney. He doesn't have much respect for basic American beliefs. He and Benjamin Franklin wouldn't have gotten along. Tom Jefferson wouldn't have invited him to Monticello. Patrick Henry would have challenged him to a duel. And John Adams would have told him he's an idiot who has a serious disconnect between his brain and his mouth. Not to mention his word processors. The right wing nutters of various stripes will try to bloviate this self-important book to five stars. They'll take it home even if they can't read it. It gives them gives them somebody to blame for almost anything. That's what O'Reilly is really good at. The Hall of Blame. Better to read this standing up at Costco than spend $14.95 for this trash. That's true even if you're an O'Reilly lover who's got a plastic bag wrapped tightly about your head and you pop you Limbaugh brand, genuine conservative pain pills to make you forget you're a big fat idiot. But you could read the dustjacket and you skip the rest if you're short on time. O'Reilly resembles one of the great gasbags of the 30s, Father Coughlin. O'Reilly's best talent is a practiced video sneer. Coughlin would have loved it. This is simply turgid crap. Try reading someone you don't agree with -- someone who has something to say that challenges you. There are conservative who can do that ... and people from the other aisle as well. O'Reilly. Well, he's looking out for nobody but O'Reilly.
