Summary: Not enough bang for the buck
Review: I kept waiting for this book to smack me with something I didnt already know. The nuclear codes being lost forever was an immediate grab. The examples of Gores ignorant attitude as well as Hilary is not really shocking. These are horrible human beings and it is obviously apparant even when they are "on". You cant repaint a zebra, at least to intelligent people, no matter how hard you try to be likable.

Mr. Clinton being bothered seemed to be the theme. If it wasnt leisure, he wasnt all that interested. If it wasnt domestic policy, he was seriously detached. His never ending cycle of being in PR mode set our country back from important issues in my opinion. The under appreciation of President Bush, no matter if you like or dislike him, is brought out by this book. Having a vision and being decisive isnt conducive to satisfying all the people, all the time. It does, however, command respect.

Some of the authors pin pointing of the small accounts of the Pres and Mrs. Clinton being mean spirited and unattached seemed petty. Some people have bad days. A few examples of rolling eyes and missed "thankyous" are not worthy to portray as derelict of duty. I think some of this filler could have been left out.

The author has entirely too much of his own biography in this book. His service was admirable, but I didnt buy this book to read 50 pages of Buzz Pattersons service record.

Overall, it is a mediocre work. A little more detail and background into the specific serious accounts would have made this more substantive.

Summary: When you can't find Osama or WND's...blame Clinton!
Review: This is one of several books to come out lately blaming the short-comings of the Bush White House on Bill Clinton. Can't find Osama? Where are those WMD's anyway? When in doubt, the right hits the presses to cover their butts. Patterson's information has been proven to be fabrication: a very imaginative story that has been streched to the limits. The real 'dereliction of duty' resides at the Pentagon: our nation's largest, most wasteful, scandle-ridden government organization. What the Pentagon and the military industrial complex have gotten away with for decades should worry every American.

Summary: Tip of the Iceberg
Review: All through the egregious scandals of the Clinton administration both the media and the Democratic Party constantly covered for Bill and Hillary. I was well aware of the media bias toward the Democrats but I knew that some day, after the Clintons were out of office, somebody from the inside would tell the truth.

Buzz Patterson was not one of the inner circle, but as a military aid he was with the Clintons at all times while on duty. He witnessed the worst malfeasance in the history of the U.S. presidency. Clinton, even for a man with no military experience, was unbelievably ignorant of military protocol and operations. Patterson cites many examples such as: using military staff officers as domestic servants; losing the nuclear codes; failing to act on at least two separate occasions when given an opportunity to kill or capture Osama bin Laden, against the advice of the National Security Advisor; and the numerous social experiments with which he contstantly abused the armed services. All the while he was systematically cutting overall military strength by almost one third. It's one thing to "loathe the military" as a private citizen, but Clinton apparently carried that sentiment into the White House.

Given the limitations of Patterson's position, this book tends to be somewhat superficial, being based mostly on the author's own observations. It is not investigative journalism; it's simply the testimony of an Air Force officer who was shocked and dismayed by the gross misconduct he witnessed in the Clinton White House. The Clintons are notorious for their vicious attacks on opponents. Buzz Patterson and Regnery Press should be commended for fearlessly coming forward to tell this honest account of how the Clintons disgraced our nation. But what Patterson saw was just the tip of the iceberg. Investigative journalists with no liberal bias will eventually write the several volumes necessary to tell the whole truth about the most inept, corrupt and self-serving president in American history.

Summary: Review the Reviewer
Review: I read Dr. Lloyd's review about this book. It criticized Mr. Patterson for having grammatical and spelling errors in his book. I read this book, loved it, and didn't find a single grammatical or spelling error. In fact, it's extremely well written. I did find two grammatical errors in Mr Lloyd's review. I also looked into this reviewers history of reviews. He wrote 3 one-star reviews of conservative books in one day. He must be a voracious reader or a BS artist...and not a very good one. Every conservative book he's reviewed has been one-star. Me thinks there is something amiss here.

Don't be fooled by liberals who spam books they haven't read. "Dereliction" is a worthy read. It's objective, documented, and entertaining.

Summary: a horrible book, it even had sloppy spelling and grammar
Review: The attacks on Bill Clinton here are very nasty, in a book that exists only to tap the still-large market of rabid Clinton-haters, who will buy any book in the "evil Clinton conspiracy against good Christian Americans" genre.

Mr Patterson also so disrespects his readers that he couldn't even have run a spell-check on this book or hire an decent editor before he published. There are major spelling and grammar errors on nearly every page of this book. At many points "Dereliction of Duty" reads like a transcript of a the Art Bell going off about his UFO cover-up stories on late-night radio, but not as funny. If you're wise you'll look elsewhere for reading material.

Summary: Let the Scandelous 8 Years be a Lesson we NEVER Forget!
Review: To quote the author: "We must never allow the purveyors of such dangerous military policy and irresponsible foreign policy claim the power of the presidency again."

I add: Please wake up AMERICA, and never let JFKerry, Hillarious, or their ilk EVER destroy this country again.

They are greedy, power-hungry cowards who only cater to small, but many special-interest groups without which they could never win any elections.

Sadly, they only win elections by dividing society into groups pitted against each other, but promise each group that they (and not the "heartless" republicans) have their best interest at heart.

It's the clueless and un-informed who help these cowards win any public office at all. They rely on the fact that most of their constituants are not well informed. They feed on that, and to the detriment of this country's well being.

Let's stop them!!!!

Summary: Nasty Truth
Review: Everyone should have to read the nasty truth about these
politicians before they are allowed to vote.

This author worked as a military aide to Pres. Clinton for a
couple yrs, and he had to be close by on numerous occasions,
plus, he had to endure the presence of Hillary Clinton. Talk
about a "combat zone!"

There are no secrets at all in this book, but some candid and truthful glimpses of the Clintons should be known to everyone.
From Mr. Clinton's ignorance of the role of the military, and
his lack of proper response to military needs, as well as the
well-documented absence of action to protect our country from
terrorism, on to Mrs. Clinton's obvious self-centered, selfish,
"me-me" attitude, these people are clearly revealed as being unfit for high office. Add in some examples of Mrs. Clinton's
ill-tempered reponses to almost anything, and you should get a
decent picture of what kind of people they really are.

No one voting for either of those people could possibly know
and understand the truth about them.

Unfortunately, it is the ignorant who keep voting for them, and
they won't bother with the truth.

But this author presents in a dispassionate way some clear examples of the behavior and motivations of the Clintons, and it's too bad everyone doesn't acquaint themselves with the truth.

This is a condensed look at those examples, and it can be easily
and quickly read, and that is all the more reason why it should
not be missed.

Summary: Robert Patterson is wrong.
Review: Robert Patterson must have been thinking about someone else when he used the name Bill Clinton, as I feel many republicans do. Not everything can be blamed on Clinton, but it sure is fun, isn't it? I'm sure the author figured, "hey, national security is a hot topic these days, and there's nothing more eye catching and mouth watering for the right-wing public than to blame Clinton for our lack of it." He should have spent more time getting his facts straight, much more time, any time at all would have been nice.

Summary: Another View from A Former Officer
Review: I've never done this before but I feel compelled to reply to an earlier review from Mr. Ralph Capio. I, too, am a retired officer and the author, LT COL Robert Patterson, does speak for me. I found this book to be a thorough indictment of President Clinton's performance as our commander in chief and the evidence presented by Patterson speaks for itself. If Mr Capio is looking for evidence of "dereliction of duty," how about these?:
- Ch 7, The War on Terrorism: Patterson details how the Clintion Administration on several occasions failed to respond to the many terrorist attacks on American citizens during their term, ultimately leading to September 11 and the deaths of thousands of citizens and the neccesity to engage in Afghanistan and Iraq.
- Ch 2, The Finger on The Nuclear Trigger: describes how former President Clinton actually lost the nuclear codes for the first time in this nation's history. THAT is dereliction and punishable under the UCMJ.
- Ch 6, CNN Diplomacy: President Clinton and his SECDEF Les Aspin refused commanders on the ground in Mogadishu, Somalia, their requests for tanks and armored personnel carriers directly leading to Black Hawk Down.
- Ch 4, Fear and Loathing: President Clinton sexually molested a junior enlisted woman on board Air Force One and was allowed a free pass while, at the same time, prosecuting officers and enlisted for sexual harrasment and sending them to Ft Leavenworth.
I know that Mr Capio understands what it means to "command" and what it means to be derelict in duties under the UCMJ. In my mind, this book and Mr Patterson make a convincing case. President Clinton was indeed derelict in his duties and if he'd been a military member of any rank, he'd have been courts martialed. Great book and interesting read.

Summary: Confirmed what we already knew
Review: I retired after 21.5 years in the Air Force. Unfortunately 8 of those years were under "Slick Willie". This book only confirms what the vast majority of the military I was associated with believed. Robert Patterson spells it out clearly. He does a superb job explaining the Clinton administration mentality of the military's role in "Their World". I imagine negative reviews will primarily be from individuals who were on the outside (of the military) looking in. It was so bad, I worked with a Lt Col that retired during the Clinton administration and refused his retirement certificate because Clinton's name would be on it. Oh sorry, I'm not a bleeding heart liberal, my opinion doesn't count. WRONG ! Buy the book !
