Summary: Thank the Constitution we have elections every 4 years
Review: I admit, I wasn't a big fan of President Clinton during his 8 years in office, but I did generally support him as President and Commander in Chief. After all, we aren't privy to the how and why of Presidential decision making, and surely there are good reasons for every thing he did. Or so I thought.

This book is a true eye-opener. I had heard the anecdotes and allegations, but I dismissed a lot of it as overblown posturing and partisan bickering. After all, I lived in DC, I know how the Beltway Crowd works and thinks.

I am simply appalled at what I read in this book, however. Only the most closed-minded apologist could read this book without at least a twinge of guilt. Truly, the author has no axe to grind, and he certainly had a lot more first-hand contact than I (or anyone else here) has had. I firmly believe that in order to take the true measure of someone, you have to size them up, in person, over an extended period of close contact. The author did that and more. What he recounts is a tale of someone so mendacious, so shallow, and so amazingly self-centered that it's almost surprising that our system of government survived those eight years.

The current President may not be the best of all possible worlds, but he does at least seem to be personally honorable. Whether you agree with his politics or not, that seems to come through to most observers.

The same could not be said of the previous President, sad to say, and this book not only confirms that suspicion, but adds fuel to the fire.

Read this book and make your own decision. I did.

Summary: Ridiculous conclusions and poorly written
Review: You don't have to read very far into this book to realize that Col. Patterson is simply a lock-in-step Republican looking to continue the Clinton bashing. His conclusion that the Sept. 11 tragedy is somehow linked to bad military planning by the Clinton administration is ludicrous and completely far-fetched. The most promising part of this book is realizing that the writer is retired from the military. Patterson might try his hand at science fiction for his next book, assuming he takes a few writing classes.

Summary: Personal, First Hand Account of Clinton
Review: I will say up front that I am not a Clinton fan. Never was. So this book definitely fed the part of my me that intensely dislikes the Clintons. However, I tried to read this book objectively. I tried to read between the lines and find the nuances. Overall, I conclude that the book is best when it is retelling first hand information. Mr. Patterson obviously had a view of the White House few people ever get. He should have included more first-hand facts, things that he saw that could shed light on the administration. I'm sure that there were many more eyewitness events that could have been included in this book.

The book is weakest when the author tries to explain policy or when he makes the leap from fact to blanket conclusions. I make no judgment about Mr. Patterson's qualifications as an analyst. However, I think that he doesn't always make his case. For example, calling Clinton racist because he wouldn't return Jesse Jackson's phone calls seems like too much of a leap. Maybe Clinton just didn't like Jackson. Or maybe Clinton just didn't want to be caught up in Jackson's own scandals which, if I remember correctly, erupted right around the same time as Clinton's. These parts of the book are weak. Another example is where the author talks about Clinton's policy of increasing the role of women in the military. Mr. Patterson makes a few blanket statements about how the military was resisting these efforts, but does little to really explain the reasons.

Ultimately, I was not surprised by the Clintons' shenanigans. I agree with the author that Bill Clinton never respected the Office of the President of the United States. So it doesn't come as a surprise to me that he would "misplace" the nuclear codes. It doesn't surprise me either that Clinton would cut military spending. After all, he clearly and directly disavowed the US military in his youth. As Commander in Chief, he just didn't have the credibility to fill those shoes. It also doesn't surprise me that Bill Clinton was a "serial liar" about things big and small (from golf scores to military facts to details about his relationship with Lewinsky -- all fertile ground for Clinton's lies and double-talk).

There was one final part of the book that Mr. Patterson could have expanded upon. He talks a little bit about the frustration of the military under Clinton, how they felt unappreciated and abandoned by the administration, how they felt overextended in their international commitments, how they felt Clinton never really had a plan when it came to military engagements. These were VERY VERY important points that Mr. Patterson could have dealt with on a grander scale. He just barely skims the surface, though.

Because of the allegations in the book, I think reviews will fall along party lines, or along the lines of "Do You Like or Dislike Clinton?" If you liked Clinton, you'll probably hate this book. If you disliked Clinton (okay, I didn't dislike Clinton, I hated him), then this book will satisfy some of your craving for Clinton-bashing.

What I think is unfortunate and just childish is that some people are using this book as an excuse to bash Bush, who is not even mentioned in the book. One obviously enraged liberal states in his review of THIS book that "Bush Is Worse." Really, did you read the book? Is that even an appropriate reponse? Sounds like something kids say in the playground.

Summary: Thankful for a President of Character (Bush)
Review: I found the book informative.

"You gotta be kidding" from San Jose seems to be cut of the same cloth as the former president (reading a book in the bookstore without purchasing). So it is no surprise that he values "polish" over character.

Summary: It's great and the Libs ranting proves it!
Review: These are accounts predominantly from eye witnesses. You know without reading this book that it it going to be very telling and loaded with validated Clinton disgraces just based on the outrage and attempted bad reviews by the hard, Clinton loving, left.
I have perused the book in the store and have it on order for my collection. This book is a must for those that know this country has been twisted miserably by the left and their latest bozo-like leader, Clinton. Keep the good work coming, it is time for the truth to be told. Read it!

Summary: What every American who loves America should know
Review: I knew that we ad a weasel in the White House but never knew how bad things really were. Anyone who knows anything about the military will understand this mans writings and why he chose to write it. Long before this book came out I firmly believed that Clinton was indirectly responsible for 9/11. I also know that some non thinkers and politically brainwashed (unable to get a look at both sides) from the leftist college teachings will get nothing of what this book has to say. This man had no reason to lie or make up stories he was the true American hero. May we never have another president as such in the White House but knowing the minds of alot of Americans it probably will come to pass.

Summary: If you thought it could not get worse...
Review: If you thought the final days of the Clinton White House was the pinnacle of disgrace read this book and you will be in for a shocker!!

It is almost criminal when you read all of the things the author writes about that Clinton got away with.

I believe that is was nothing short of divine intervention that kept Gore out of the White House.

You will LOVE this Book!!!

Summary: It's about time some came forward.
Review: I was not surprised by what I read. I want to thank Mr. Patterson for doing his civic duty and writing this book. I would recommend this book to ever American who wants to know the truth. It confirms all the rumors, and then some. For anyone who thinks that they would want Hilary as President, be forewarned, we will have 4 more years of this "Derelicion of Duty".

Summary: Absoutely amazing - Clinton and his wife get worse and worse
Review: In many ways a simple book, but one of the best I've ever read. I would have never believed its content, had it not been written by such a highly regarded military man, or endorsed by the esteemed military people who have. I always felt history would not be kind to the Clintons, with this book confirming my belief. Must reading for anyone who wants to be taken seriously in a political debate. Read it, then revisit Nancy Polosi's recent statement that Clinton helped create the military that won the Iraq war. She's clearly ignorant, or lied.

Summary: Wing-nut garbage
Review: This is just another of the hate-filled books which are relished by the squirrel-head right wingers in this country. There must be a lot of money in producing this garbage because the stores of full of it. So are the writers.
