Summary: SLIM BUT PACKED WITH INFO
Review: LTC Patterson's book is pretty brief. Under 150 pages once you subtract the forward by Al Santoli and the appendix. (Personally, I'm not sure Santoli's forward--bordering on diatribe--belongs here.) This might have made a better expose magazine article somewhere, but it never would have made the money it's making on the bestsellers list.

Given the brevity, I don't understand why so many people seem to have a problem with whether or not the book is true. I think LTC Patterson put himself out on a limb by not naming the people that witnessed Clinton's behavior with him. To me the risk ads credence to the allegations. And wouldn't a guy make more dramatic statements if he was going to make the whole thing up?

I would like to see some reporter make more of these allegations and expand upon them. The Clinton's disdain wasn't limited to the military. They regularly referred to their security detail as "the pigs." It's unbelievable that such ill-mannered, arrogant, and inexperienced people were ever allowed to run the country.

LTC Patterson squarely lays the blame for 911 on President Clinton's indecisive shoulders. Very interesting reading. You'll kill it in an afternoon.

Summary: A first hand account of the "real" Clinton.
Review: This book really tells it like it is. This just proves what Republicans and Democrats alike have been trying to say for eight years! Great Book!!

Summary: Revisionist history
Review: This is the second revisionist history I've read this spring, both concerning left-wingers who have run for president. The other is THE LITTLE RED (SOX) BOOK by Bill "Spaceman" Lee and it is only slightly more outrageous and a lot more courageous. Lee's book provides some insights into an America with a TRUE left-winger (southpaw) in charge, and the only cigar involved belongs to Luis Tiant. Personally, I prefer a revisionist history in which Boston wins countless World Series, the Yankees lose, Babe stays in Beantown, Teddy Ballgame kills Hitler, Jackie Robinson comes to Boston, and New York is reduced to a hamlet. It's just more fun, somehow.

Summary: Review The Book Please - No Political Diatribes!
Review: Somehow, there should be the means by which people actually have to have read the book they are reviewing prior to writing a review. That's what a book review is----a review of the book. That means you should probably read it before you make comment. I meticulously read all of the existing reviews on Amazon prior to making this purchase. After reading this EXCELLENT book, it's obvious to me that many are using this forum to rant about President Bush and the Republicans and have absolutely nothing pertinent to say about this book. Why? Because they haven't read it!! They know nothing about it!! The title scares them and they are Clinton apologists. So, what do they do? Attack the author with every vile comment they can think of. Folks....READ THE BOOK!! It's an excellent, insightful, well-written, eye-witness account of our former president's failures in the foreign policy and military arenas. It's objective, relevant and timely. It's attention grabbing, articulate and scary. The man who wrote it is a highly decorated, career military officer and pilot. He chooses not to attack President Clinton personally but to probe his failures professionally. He may not be a previously recognized author but I think he did an admirable job. He obviously feels convicted and confident in his observations. If you have something pertinent to say AFTER YOU'VE ACTUALLY READ THE BOOK, I'm all ears. Otherwise, you're wasting our time and embarassing yourselves. This book is important, interesting, and insightful. For anyone to opine otherwise is foolishly blind. If you need to vent, find a chat room. If you have some relevant insights AFTER READING THE BOOK, please pass them on in this forum. Bottom line: Great book, Well-written, Honest, Sincere, and Devastating to the Clinton legacy. Buy it now!!

Summary: what's new?
Review: I'm no Clinton fan, but give me a break. First fo all, Clinton DID launch strikes against Sudan, he destroyed a pharmaceutical plant that was the only source of medicine to the majority of that country, imagine if someone did the same to the United States. Sudan is already being torn apart by a 20 year civil war which has killed many millions, I suppose we should have launched "pre-emptive" war to "liberate" them as well, because Osama bin Laden was there? Starting wars against impoverished and oppressed countries and destroying what little infrastructure they have is what CREATES people like Osama Bin Laden and gives terrorists like him "folk hero" status to the millions of world citizens who have seen and felt first-hand the United States' own terrorist "war" tactics. I guess it's not terrorism because we have a flag and wear uniforms.

Personally, I could care less about losing the "nuclear codes", I for one don't feel safer sitting on top of the most massive and unnecessary supply of Weapons of Mass Destruction in the world.

To put it bluntly, every American president since WW2 could be charged with "war crimes" and terrorism as applied by the US's own standards. Clinton was no different, but at least he presided over a decent economy and didn't see himslef as the Manichean savior of white American Christianity as George W. does, in my eyes that made him a lot less dangerous.

BTW, I'm in the US military and if all you neo-conservative partisan patsies are so concerned about "national security" I suggest you walk your talk and go enlist to find out first-hand just how the US "liberates" it's enemies and brings "democracy" to the rest of the world.

Do yourself a favor and go read some Chomsky; Clinton, Bush, Carter, Reagan, they're all the same as every corporate mouthpiece in Washington: they don't care about anyone's security but their own.

Summary: Get a Pacifier with This Book
Review: I read this book - It had some legitimate examples of the poor organization of the Clinton White House and the purely political motives of that Administration. Nothing new here - sounds like business as usual in the political arena.

More than anything, I thought the author whined a lot about not being treated with respect. I'm sorry he didn't feel that his rank and authority as an Officer in the Air Force were respected by the White House. However, that is life. It happens all the time in the private sector and he was just a low level operative in the scheme of American politics.

I think his disdain for the political inclination of the Clinton Administration coupled with this perceived slight produced this book.

I just felt that his seething hate of Clinton boiled over in this work and it drew his personal credibilty as an author into question.

One persons opinion...

Summary: A fellow Military Officer
Review: .... I believe the disillusionment of seeing the inner workings of the Clinton White House were key in his decision to retire. It was the military and country's loss.

The book is a good read and frankly is completely consistent with the pattern's of behaviour of the former President. The incidents described ring true, and echo the "urban legends" we would hear throughout the military about the Clintons. Those outside the military have no idea the damage done by President Clinton, and how bad he undermined his moral authority as Commander-in-Chief. I cite a few examples: 1. Widespread refusal on retiring military member's part to receive their Clinton signed Retirement Certificates. 2. Eliminating the toasts to the Commander-in-Chief at official functions because we couldn't control the laughter and disgust reactions. 3. Military Leadership having to send pointed messages to field threatening legal actions against those making disparaging remarks against the POTUS. All unheard of under past presidents. Probably seem like silly examples, but the underpinnings of a successful military has always been leadership, perhaps best summarized by the "Duty, Honor, Country" motto. Every President starts with moral authority, Clinton detroyed his.

I was a Aide to a senior military officer, and I understand some questioning Buzz for violating a trust. I believe the trust starts with the senior person and their actions determine the viability of the trust. It would take extreme behaviour on the senior's part to dissolve a military officer's trust. A gut wrenching call on Buzz's part I know.

Buzz's conclusions as to the impact of the behaviour and goals of the Administration are his opinions. I happen to agree with them. Others will choose not to and the debate will go on. While the book is not perhaps thick on evidence, I hope the Civilian population will understand that part of a military officer's professional life is to study National Security and Military Strategy. Buzz's conclusions are predicated on this deeper understanding of the bigger picture.

I only hope the book will trigger a stronger debate during Presidential elections about the suitabiity of a particular Politician to fulfill this greatest responsibility under our Constitution.

Summary: Positive Garbage- Painful to Give it Even 1 Star
Review: Oh geez. Can this Robert Patterson guy get any more childish? A person's personal opinion of the previous president are theirs to cherish, but to publicly and so blatantly denounce a man who was once the leader of this country isn't, I'd say, where we want to go.

Clinton was a good president. Period. He did wonderful things for our economy, for the starving and sick in Africa, for education, ensuring our rights, and keeping peace with other nations, among many other things for all the people here in America (which is more than we can say about Georgie Junior now, isn't it? The guy starts a stupid war to protect his oil industry, not to stop terrorism. Might I remind some of you that the 9/11 hijackers were mainly from Saudi Arabia? NOT Iraq?). There's a good reason why Clinton was elected president twice in a row, folks! Yet, sorry to tell you, he IS human. Humans tend to make mistakes, and some a lot more frequently than Clinton, while not even being in the spotlight. How would you like having a world of media and publicity reporters breathing down your neck, just waiting for you to slip up? So he made a mistake. Big deal- his love affairs and personal life have absolutely nothing to do with how he manages the country. Nothing. So give it a break, alright? Clinton is a decent fellow, and was one heck of a president. So why don't we start treating him like it.

You might not like Clinton, but I sure hate Bush (he wasn't even supposed to be president, if he hadn't messed up the FL votes), and yet I don't go around writing books on it. Why don't we all just grow up. And if I haven't already summed it up, don't buy this book. Don't even read it. This book is garbage.
