Rating: Summary: Wait for the movie Review: ... All LtCol Patterson did was rant and rave about how honorable the military is and how unmilitary Clinton was. While I'm no big fan of Clinton, I do find it odd that so many military members want to hold it against him for not having a military background. He didn't have to serve in the military at all to be president. As with all presidents, he had to learn on the job. If he was bad at one aspect of it, so be it. Bear in mind that the military that was sent to Afganistan and Irag are products of his administration. Bush and Rumsfield haven't been in office long enough to effect much of a change in the DOD. He was also at the helm during one of the greatest economic expansions in generations, and yet the same people that cheered him on when times were good, are the same ones that want to hold the economic downturn against him. Lastly, every president has their strengths and weaknesses. I admired Reagan for some things, and deplored him for others. The same for Clinton. Perhaps LtCol Patterson could have given the reader more of a balanced point of view. Faults are easy to point out.
Rating: Summary: Morality or Leadership Review: If we are to debate the morality of leaders then President Clinton is in good company with his failures. Be it sexual or balancing the budget of a country by forcing people into unemployment and homelessness there are always unclean virtues in the one who occupies that office. Similarly when Clinton proposed increasing airport security and Trent Lott said he was being paranoid, I guess that was just conservative wisdom. You can point out the debase side of any person from Bush and his drinking, to Clinton's womanizing and unless there is a canonization of the author, I too think he (the author) is one of us imperfect people in an imperfect world. So a readable good book yes. A potrayal of someone whose personal abuses were greater than others - I dont think so. Great prose is one thing, objectivity is another and believe me I am no fan of Clinton's conduct. But to predicate this Presidency as endangering the country - I think not. If there are failures in national security one only has to look at what is going on now.
Rating: Summary: Great book. Clinton Rocks! Review: Clinton was the man and this book proves it. The dude has style - the man's gonna be an American Legend - another JFK (in more ways than one!). I think the author meant to make him look bad but I don't think he gets it: Bill is the man. Everything he did had style. This book shows how larger than life he was, and despite that how much he truly loved this country. He could run today and win again. The Pub's better pray he doesn't run because America loves a rock star! Buy this book because you're gonna love Bill even more after reading it! Peace
Rating: Summary: The clinton Bootlickers Continue to Ignore the Facts Review: It's a pretty sad commentary that nearly 100% of the folks that trash this book offer up nothing in defense of clinton (impossible to defend the indefensible) and so they instead rely on attacking President Bush. Here's a news flash for you clinton bootlickers - the book isn't ABOUT President Bush - it's about a Commander in Chief who gutted the military, who "loathed the military", and ignored every signal that America was under attack from terrorists (or didn't the attacks on the World Trade Center in 1993, Khobar Towers in 1996, TWO of our embassies in 1998, and the USS Cole in 2000) - there's a total of 266 dead Americans left as the clinton legacy. But he was too busy getting his "staff polished" to take time to pay attention. And yet you clinton bootlicks will still take time to "defend the indefensible". That fact alone is very telling about how the socialists in America will go to defending bill clinton - the worst president in the history of the United States. Deal with it, socialists. And remember - Impeachment is forever.
Rating: Summary: Please Review: Another example of how conservatives are only interested in their personal agendas. The truth doesn't even matter. Clinton decided to send troops to Somalia?! Maybe this guy, who claims to be from the military, should check his facts. One George Herbert Walker Bush was the President that sent troops to Somalia. He did this AFTER he lost the election to Clinton in November and before Clinton was sworn in in January. Of course Bush did this to mess Clinton up, which he succeeded in doing. But Somalia was Bush's war, not Clinton's. And just because you repeat something over and over doesn't make it so.
Rating: Summary: More Republican [hoopla] Review: This book is a continuation of the hatred the Republican Party right felt for Bill Clinton. Is our National Security better today than before, even with 9-11? The "liberation" of Irag was a choice by this administration and the long term consequences are yet to be seen. Who's really endangering our long term national security? Just as the infamous Clinton Tapes, which later turned out Jerry Farwell produced, this book is a compilation of truth, exageration and fabrication. It is ironic that for 8 years, all the country heard was criticism and scandals that never amounted to anything substantial about the Clintons, but is is unpatriotic and blasphemous to hint anything negative about W. Even Newt Gingrich had to tell it how he sees it and he is now receiving death threats from members of his own party. This is wood for the fire of Clinton haters so that the smoke it creates would block the view of the dismal economic and foreign policy performance of the W Presidency.
Rating: Summary: Sour grapes, distortion and jealosy. Review: This "author" is an opportunist, milking his recent luck in having a higher position. There's nothing more tasty than hindsight about big power situations; the "I knew better" phenominon. And its a relatively safe, cozy, ...back seat power trip. Let's consider motive. President Clinton is no longer in office. His successor, has plenty of--apparently astute--advisors. WE might conclude that this author's opinions of the past will influence an existing administration very little indeed; since it is obvious that President Bush has never had the inclination to "copy" Mr. Clinton. Maybe this fellow would like to run for President of The United States...and actually WIN. There's something else he's not going to do. Because, you see, he's ...busy. As a beaver. Damning things.
Rating: Summary: Excellent Read Review: This was a great book. The writer is almost apologetic as I would expect given the circumstances but I admire him for writing this needed story. Being a 24-year Air Force veteran I understand the soul searching involved in such a decision. Clinton is undoubtedly charismatic. My one chance encounter with him demonstrated that vividly. Unfortunately his morals leave something to be desired. His treatment of the military was deplorable. His interaction with me as a lieutenant colonel who happened to be female left me feeling extremely unsettled. Based on that single encounter and other experiences over many years in the DC arena, I believe Lt Col Patterson is fully truthful and factual. This book lists specific instances of behavior without passing judgement. The judgement is left for the reader. Read it and decide for yourself.
Rating: Summary: Not worth the time... Review: This is even worse than the book written by the FBI guy about the Clinton years. Get over it - he did more for this country than any of the bush's ever did, and I've been a registered Libertarian for 25 years.
Rating: Summary: "A Failure by any other name is still a failure" Review: This is just one more piece of evidence of a failed presidency and its too bad because his failure is our failure. I have heard a lot before about Hillerys files that she hauled around with her everywhere and this substantiates what I had heard by four other sources. It was a sad read, its too bad that the President Clinton didn't learn that when you are responsible for others that as a servant they come before you. His childhood didn't have that. Losing the codes and the idea of "oh well" is enough to want one to grab him by the nape of the neck and have him stand in the corner till he can get it right, but that probably would not have done any good either. America needs to watch Hilary, she just did a big book deal and I feel sure she is up to something.
