Summary: Everyone in America should read this book.
Review: Mr. Patterson clearly and carefully outlines exactly what he saw and experienced as a military aide. It certainly made my stomach turn. After noting several examples of how Clinton and Gore showed their hatred of the military, Patterson wrote, "I understood what kind of people we'd elected."

A chilling, disturbing record of events - and one that should be required reading for everyone.

Summary: What the REAL Clintons are like
Review: Colonel Patterson provides an honest and at the same time incredulous assessment of his observations and conclusions drawn from those observations of his years serving as President Clinton's military aide. The incidents (not "stories") he describes of the Clintons' total ignorance and abhorrance of the military--and the naive preconceptions by his Gen-X staffers and liberal, elitist administration--should serve as a loud warning for anyone considering voting for Hilary when she runs for the office of president.

Uninformed negative opinions about the Clintons are one thing, but you simply can't argue with what Colonel Patterson observed and heard from the most powerful couple on the planet and the blatant disregard they proudly exhibited for not only the military, but their families, the security of the United States, the sanctity of the Oval Office, and oath Clinton took to "serve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States."

The Clinton lackeys and "Friends of Bill" fan club will no doubt spew forth their bile in reviews of this book, but how long can they go on excusing the examples of immoral, unethical, and criminal behavior Colonel Patterson describes in this book?

After finishing this book, you cannot avoid coming to the conclusion that the actions and inactions of the Clinton administration contributed significantly to the conditions that led to 9-11.

Thank you, Colonel Patterson for your candor, your honorable military service, and decision to write this book.

Summary: The worst president we've ever had
Review:

I was born at the beginning of Herbert Hoover's administration, and have lived through many since, both Democrat and Republican. For a time, I was afraid that Franklin Roosevelt would be president forever.

I've found things to admire about all of our presidents save one: Bill "Slick Willy" Clinton. I took a dislike to his slack-mouthed grin from the outset, and felt utter contempt for him at the end when he and his cohorts looted the WhiteHouse.

So, I can't give a fair appraisal of this book because I am prejudiced, but I believe the author because everything he writes is absolutely typical of Clinton, who, by his own admission, "loathed the military."

Summary: A Patriot STILL Serving His Country!
Review: "Dereliction of Duty" is a warning to all Americans who hold national security, our armed forces, and the integrity of our nation close at heart. As I read it, I never had the sense that Col Patterson was taking a personal attack at President Clinton, rather he was condemning and indicting the president's failures as our commander-in-chief. In my opinion, he is a hero for doing so. Military officers do not swear an oath to a particular leader or elected official, they swear an oath to support and defend our consitution. Those who criticize Patterson for writing this book should remember that only countries like North Korea, Cuba, and Iraq (until recently) insist on loyalty to a particular leader. Those who critique this book and it's revelations as "hearsay" should be reminded that it can't be hearsay when it's an eyewitness account from a man with the same security clearance as the president himself. Those who would call it "slanderous" should remember that slander is a wanton disregard for the truth. Patterson attests to the facts and I trust him implicitly. Those who would attack Patterson personally for writing a book to make money should remember that ALL authors who go through the effort to write and publish books hope to make money. If he'd really wanted to capitalize on his experiences with Clinton, I assume he'd have written it when Clinton was still our president, not years later. That he can make some money after serving his country diligently and bravely for 20 years makes me happy for him. For those who wonder why a military officer would not quit when faced with such internal struggles, let me enlighten you. As a former military man myself, you can't quit! There are committments in terms of years and assignments that you can't just walk away from. The Air Force calls that AWOL and it's punishable with jail terms. He dutifully kept his mouth shut and served his country inspite of all he apparently found wrong in the Clinton Administration. Finally, this book is a beacon of hope for those who really want to know the truth. If you want to stick your head into the sand and pretend that the 8 years of Bill and Hillary Clinton didn't happen, fine. For those who know better, read this book and be truly enlightened. It's marvelously written, well documented and entertaining, albeit maddening. Most important, it's a warning to us all about the requirements for the next presidential election. Those who fail to remember are doomed to repeat history. I, for one, think one 9-11 is plenty.

Summary: Too much slander for my taste
Review: Don't get me wrong, I'm as eager to have all the scandalous dealings of "president" Clinton in book form as the next guy. And I'm certainly all for having a man who dealt closely with Clinton being the one to write it. Men of that character, who act the way he did in such a sacred office as President of the United States, should be exposed. BUT, and this is a big but, it should be done with tact and taste. There is absolutely no taste in this book.

I read this book thinking it would focus on some of the details of the major blunders Clinton made while in office. Well, it does that, but it also provides a mountain of scurrilous stories and degradations of the Clintons' character that is nothing short of petty. The sections on Clinton's actions concerning Saddam, bin Laden, and Bill's harassment of a woman on Air Force One, for example, were very informative. But these petty little anecdotes and superficial judgments (like Patterson claiming Clinton was checking out his wife, or quoting some comment Hillary made about the military, for example) were much too much for me to handle. Let's face it, the man did enough--between sexual misconduct, mismanagement of the military, and poor executive decisions in international and domestic affairs--to write a pretty convincing book in itself. But there's no need to start digging up every small and inconsequential detail.

To be honest, it is sad for me to see a conservative resorting to such petty, child-like defacing of character. I admire Lt. Col. Patterson's courage in stating the facts, in getting into the open things which should have been told, but I do think he took it a little too far. So, I give a low rating not because I have any disagreements with what he says (I agree fully), but simply because I got tired of wading through 130 pages of petty slander to get the 20 pages of real meat in this book.

Summary: Sounding the Alarm!
Review: A huge military operation, tensed and poised to launch air strikes on Iraq needed a nod from the president before dawn broke and the window of opportunity closed. But the Commander-in-Chief didn't want to be bothered to take the call. He was busy watching a golf tournament with his friend. His response more than once was "I'll get back to him later."

The situation room was crowded as America's counterterror network had Osama bin Laden in its gun sights and was begging the White House for permission to strike, but the president had managed to "disappear" for a while and could not be located to give the order. The results of that missed opportunity fell to his wife's senatorial state.

Once the president, as he was leaving for a round of golf, lost the secret nuclear codes for the 24/7 nuclear football that the military aide carrried for him. The SECOND time he lost them, they were never found.

Hillary banned military uniforms from the White House. After it was observed that it didn't go over well politically, they were grudgingly approved for wear ONLY at official functions.

When the red carpet was rolled out for our president and each individual staff member at a sleepover stop in Holland, they left with all of the liquor and stole the crystal as a special PR "thank you" to the gracious hosts.

On the very frequently used Air Force One, our Commander-in-Chief committed a crime that, had he actually been SERVING in the armed forces would have put him in prison.

President #42 was so concerned about the tornado torn state of FL that when he was being flown over it to see the damage, he simply could not take time out from his card game to actually look up to peer out the window, except for a brief second when the press helicopter flew by for a photo op.

These are tidbits from the book and what was apparently an 8 year long party at the White House that still needs a mop up from the current administration.

The apolitical Lt. Col. Robert "Buzz" Patterson may think his long and distinguished military career was his greatest service to this country, but it wasn't. Writing this book in an effort to wake up a sleeping America is his most courageous and heroic contribution. It's not the truth that sets anyone free, it's KNOWING the truth that does. Many "salutes" to this USAF retiree.

Why did he write this book? In his words, "We must never allow the purveyors of such dangerous military policy and irresponsible foreign policy claim the power of the presidency again."

Yes, there are also interesting insights into VP Al Gore, and on the real person in charge (Hillary) of this Peter Pan presdident that are not to be missed.

Definitely buy this explosive book and hang onto it like it was the nuclear football for future reference, unless of course you'd like to pass it to your fellow Americans who'd like to avoid another national disaster, too.

Summary: puh-LEASE!!!!!
Review: i am a republican and i realize that the dems and repubs will be at discord to eternity but never have i been so ashamed to admit my affiliation. how in God's name can the americans sit idle while this buffoon that we call our commander-in-chief is led around like a puppet? read this book and you will realize first off that the author is just capitalizing on his less-than-stellar career and second, it's all hearsay. i've had the opportunity to meet clinton twice so i guess i'm entitled to write such (junk) as well without having any credible evidence to back up my slop? yes, clinton was not one of our greatest leaders but by gum, you saw what you got, unlike the current quasi-man. killing our boys for oil? shame shame. remember people, it all comes out in the wash.

Summary: Clinton bad, Patterson good, but .....
Review: Patterson does a fine job revealing the corruption and depravity of the Clinton administration. Granted, most of the allegations appear to be complete fabrications for which he provides no convincing support. But since he is a military man with an impressive background, (according to Patterson), all of the allegations of treasonous and amoral activity in the White House are entirely plausible. But there is one nagging question that the reader is left with after completing the book : why did Patterson, who appears to be a man of unquestionable honor and integrity and ethics, remain with the administration for so many years while the Whitewater, Travelgate, cattle-future, Lewinsky, billing records, Chinagate, Nicole Simpson murder, Taliban, etc, scandals were being carried out by Clinton and his cronies in full view of Patterson and the American public? He's appeared on C-SPAN and stated that it was something he struggled with for years, but for the good of the country, he remained. But it's a pretty weak explanation. As he describes in his book, he's a great military hero with unquestionable moral values and the highest regard for the constitution and all of that. So we're all left wondering why such a great man like patterson would end up serving year after year for this (as Patterson brilliantly depicts in his book) most depraved and corrupt leader the world has ever known. I was just wondering.

Summary: A Tragedy in History
Review: I found this book to be an excellent source of information on the Clintons during their "stay" in the White House. It further verified for me that Bill Clinton was inept and unqualified to serve as president of our country. He single-handedly undermined
our military both in reducing our forces and eroding morale. To say I am greatly relieved that Gore didn't win the subsequent election is an understatement. I shudder to think what would have become of our nation, after the events of 9/11, if he were in the White House. It would have been Clintonism all over again.
Of course, one could argue that would depend on what the definition of "is" is.

Summary: Just off by one word....
Review: I agree with all the wonderful Right Wing Pluckers' reviews written here, except for one thing; Let's update to today's standards and simply replace one word in all these reviews. Why not replace the word Clinton with Bush, and then it would be exactly the same "amoral, deceitful, lying" Presidency, just current. Or do you honestly believe Georgey? HONESTLY?!! Repubics will always think the Dems are wrong, and the Dems will always think the Repubics are wrong. So what else is new? Hope you're happy with Georgey; after all, you voted for him! Hope you're still as happy when this country finally falls apart under his ineptitude. Where's Bill when the country needs him?
