Summary: Jane Grey the Queene
Review: The childhoods of the "children" are revealed thru and thru by my favorite Tudor biographer. You read about Jane Grey so much in other books yet you don't really KNOW her, here it is!

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Very good book keeps you interested throughout.
Review: I watched the movie elizabeth, and was interested in finding more out about her. I picked up this book at the book store. I started reading it and couldn't put it down. It is a very well written book, and I would reccomend it to anyone.

Summary: Great follow-up to two previous novels.
Review: Having enjoyed both her earlier novels I was not dissappointed in this one. History that is enjoyable to read is hard to find, but this novel is informative and enjoyable. This novel is sympathetic to both Queen Mary and Queen Jane. The reader feels for Queen Mary, who has been given the cruel nickname "Bloody Mary". Her father kept her a virtual prisoner during his lifetime and her brother was presuaded by his Council to do the same. Mary was preceived as a great threat to the Protestant Reformation and despite constant pressure she refused to renounce her faith. By the time she became Queen she was old by the standards of her time. Her dreams for a loving husband and children would never be fullfilled. Queen Jane (Jane Grey) was forced by her parents ambitions and John Dudley to take the throne. Dudley convinced Edward VI to overturn his father's will so the kingdom would have a Protestant ruler and as a result, Jane was beaten and forced to marry Guilford Dudley so the parents could rule through their children. After nine days, Mary regains her kingdom and Jane and Guilford are imprisioned. Despite Mary's desire to be merciful to these two she is eventually forced by those around her to execute both of them. You can see from this novel that Edward VI would have probaly grown up to be as tyrannical as his father. As a child, even a Royal Prince he was an insufferable brat. His councilors for the most part, were corrupt and had their own agendas. A great novel that gives insight to all the players in England after the death of Henry VIII. A must read for all those interested in Tudor history.

Summary: Tudor History Comes Alive!
Review: Ms. Weir weaves a wonderful patterns of the lives of the heirs of Henry VIII. Although the title is a little confusing since Lady Jane Grey is considered one of Henry's children, the book is totally readable and thoroughly engrossing. This is a must-read for all Tudor-philes.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Very Good, Interesting History
Review: this is a very good and interesting history of the three children and one niece of Henry VIII. The author is thorough, if not a little too repetitive for my taste. It is a little difficult to keep all of the supporting and fringe players straight, but otherwise it is a fascinating look at one of the most dysfunctional families ever!

Summary: Alison Weir's the Queen of Tudor History
Review: She has not ceased to fascinate my flickering interest in the Tudors, and has happily introduced me to the ill-fated Lady Jane. I can't wait for her next Tudor book!

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Alison Weir is the Tudor Queen
Review: As usual, Alison Weir has written an historically accuarate and darn interesting tale of the heirs to England's crown. The author could have inserted Mary of Scots for this book, considering that of Lady Jane Grey. Nonetheless, one of Alison Weir's best on the Tudors.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Diversity and Depth of the 4 heirs
Review: Okay, maybe Jane Grey wasn't exactly Henry VIII's Child, but being a niece, the fight for the crown was a big challenge. As usual, Alison Weir writes with a unique flair that makes her biographies seem more than textbooks or just pages of facts... she takes you into the life of each person, their likes and dislikes are also mentioned. Little things that were important during the Tudor period was written of.

But most importantly, the short rulings of Edward, Jane, and Mary were just like a little game at a carnival. After a few minutes the ride was over. What I still don't understand is psychologically, WHY didn't Elizabeth marry? Was it because she associated marriage of a woman with death, as it had seemed with her mother and step-mothers? You never know.

Summary: The Dear Poor Jane Grey
Review: Most of the spotlight is leaned on the "sickly" Henry, the bloody Mary, and the red-headed Elizabeth, I was so glad to see that the author had cared so much to mention and dedicate a chapter to one of my favorite royals of England: Lady Jane Grey/Dudley. She lived such a harsh life, beaten into marriage, hanged to death for following her parents wishes, queen for 7 days, this girl deserves much more respect (and pages) than she was given! Overall, for history buffs in love with Tudor England, this book is a must read.
