Review: A disappointing book that provides no new insites and presents very basic and minimal foot care information.

If one is to believe the author's implication regarding back doctors one comes away thinking them not clever enough to recognize a back problem that is foot related and that they never refer patients (or are too greedy to refer?) to podiatrists. One wonders if the author may be mistaken. Perhaps back doctors have good reason to never refer patients to her?

The author seems to believe that fungal infections are on the rise and spread "due to the proliferation of health clubs, school gyms and nail parlors." Hmmm. It couldn't be that those little spores are everywhere, opportunistic, possiblely gain a toe hold (no pun intended) due to the massive use of antibiotics in recent years, are often systemic etc etc. This is not to imply we should not follow hygienic (surprisingly not listed in the index) guidelines and common sense.

The book is presented on the cover as "A Woman's Guide to Lifelong Foot Care". Why the book should be presented as such is moot. The author draws from her patient files to illustrate points David, Sam and Ben will be pleased to have their foot stories included in this woman's guide book.

Overall the strongest reactions I came away with were that the author's superior attitude to other professionals was off putting and unprofessional and science and logic were sometimes shaky.
