Summary: Maximum Metabolism
Review: I read 60 pages of this book and had to put it down. The authors advice is way out there for practical living. Your food choices are not very practical and he encourages people to take supplemental pills and powders from the health food store. I have been on many diets before and found these quick fixes don't work. The only reason I brought this book was because I was interested in increasing my Metabolism. I personally think it would be impossible in today's age to not eat red meat,butter, cheese, eggs, nuts, ice cream etc. The best diets I found that work are one that don't limit your food choices. Weight Watchers and Suzanne Somers diets are good. Suzanne Somers does limit some food (maybe 10 or so items), but not like Dr. Giller.

Summary: If you really really want to lose weight - you can!
Review: I should probably wait until I've lost the rest of my flab before writing this review, but I'm so very pleased with the loss I've already achieved. I've had a weight problem all my life and have successfully lost large amounts of weight(over 50 lbs.) several times in the past - gained it back, with extra to boot. However, I am now 64 years old and for the past five years have been unable to lose - I stuck with the weight plans that had worked before but the weight clung to me like glue. I had this book on my bookshelf )among many others) and decided to give it a go. I had dismissed it before because Dr. Giller's program would not allow me too many things that I believed I had to have to enjoy living, such as sandwiches, sweets, coffee, diet colas, etc. I started it six weeks ago and have lost 23 lbs so far - 50 more lbs. to go and I know that I will lose them. This time is different, I absolutely am NOT hungry, I have no cravings for sweets at all which is amazing to me. I have not been able to exercise yet due to a severe tendonitis in my knee, but it too is getting better and will start a walking program soon. Honestly this book is not just another diet program - it is THE diet program for those that cannot lose weight on just low calories anymore. Dr. Giller not only gives a way to lose weight, but explains why his program works. I truly feel that this is the way for me and I won't be another fat old woman limping around on overburdened joints. I thank you Dr. Giller.

Review: I've successfully lost weight on a number of programs (breakfast bars, high-protein/low-carb), but I honestly think this system works the best AND makes the most sense. This system is easy to learn and easy to stick to. I think it works for a few reasons: (1) It's an easy system to remember (carbs & fruits in the a.m., protein & veggies for lunch & dinner, 4 fruit snacks throughout the day). (2) It gives you the option of either following a pre-planned menu with yummy recipes (including a red pepper soup that rocks!) OR following general guidelines that make it easy to eat out or throw together a quick or tasty meal at home (my boyfriend at the time, who is a great cook, had no problem making tasty meals that fit into my diet plan). (3) It provides a list of things you can eat "unlimited" amounts of, so you can pick some "comfort foods" off those lists and keep them around to have whenever. Plus, since this program SUCCESSFULLY increases your metabolism (as promised), you can fall off the diet for a little while here and there and not gain the weight back right away. I have been recommending it to everyone I know, and am considering buying a few extra copies at these bargain prices so that I can give them away to the people who sound interested after I explain the book. (I know, I know-- I sound like a commercial for this book. After I'd convinced a number of people I barely knew to buy this book, I figured I ought to write a review up here and do the book a little more good.)

Summary: This system works!
Review: The best thing i can say about Dr. Giller's approach is that it works; I came across this book in the early 90s and lost a quick 15 pounds and then got derailed; over the years i gained more weight than I ever imagined--slowly, two - three pounds a year. I turned around last thanksgiving and was disgusted with myself; my clothes weren't fitting and i felt out of control. I pulled this book off my bookshelf one sleepless night, and vowed to implement this system which had previously worked for me. It did; in about seven weeks, i have dropped 20 pounds. The significant thing about this book is that the concepts here can be applied over a lifetime, and it is not hard, once you get going. The big distinguishing factor between this and say, Atkins, is that you can have some carbs (in the a.m.) and you can have fruit. His supplement recommendations also help eliminate craving, and once you see the results, it is hard to argue. Had Dr. Giller lived, I am sure this book would be revised and reissued, but, the good news is, it works without any further revisions.

Summary: Good, sensible and easy to follow
Review: This is a diet that doesn't require eating the same meals during the time period that one is on the diet, finally.
It's full of good advice connected with good eating habits and has simple recipes that are sensible, quick, simple and wholesome, allowed me to be creative and the ingredients are what I already had on my shelf and in the refrigerator, I only had to teach myself to eat less of them. The herbs and spices used in each recipe has allows using much less salt and pepper in foods and they bring out the foods taste.
It was rough during those 21 days and I was tempted greatly throughout them to quit cause I was used to eating lots of food, more food than I needed, but I weighed less each time I stepped on that scale, my clothes were fitting more loosely, and I could begin to picture myself in a smaller size of clothing and I would ask myself if I wanted to lose this weight bad enough to keep on with the diet or go back to looking like I was and weighing what I did.
As soon as I began with the recipes and eating habits I found myself waking up earlier in the morning and not in a fog mentally, having enough energy to get me through the day without needing a nap, and I'm not a junk food junkie anymore.
This diet was so helpful for me that I've recommended it to everyone who asked me how I lost the weight and kept it off cause it's such a good guide to better eating habits.

Summary: It works! It's healthy and painless.
Review: What is truly unique about this program is that it eliminates cravings for sweets and junk foods because it helps your body to function properly. My husband can even eat cheesecake in front of me without me wanting even "just one bite." It's hard to call it a diet because it is actually the way we should eat anyway -- even after reaching a "goal weight."

It is unbelievably informative about how the body works to process what is consumed and how you can be much healthier from now through the rest of your life.

I started following Dr. Giller's eating guidelines about three weeks ago and have lost 12 pounds (and I haven't even started exercising yet). Besides the weight loss, I just feel better overall. My goal is another 50 before this year ends and I know I can do it now and keep it off -- thanks to Dr. Giller.

After the first two weeks I bought copies for two of my sisters. Buy one for someone you love.
