Summary: Not Only to Control A Man but, Control Yourself As A Woman
Review: I am totally in awe about this book. I found a few things I am semi-glad to say I can identify with. I recommend this book to all women & men. It gives women a better understanding of what a man wants and how over the years we have forgotten our role as the woman(help-mate). It teaches us to be a strong neck for the head of our households. I encourage my sistas to have an open mind while reading this and deposit this great advice within yourself. I am very proud of this book and its subject. As well as the Author Mr. C. E. Cost.

Summary: You have got to be kidding !!!
Review: I feel that Mr. Cost is in his own private fantasy world when it comes to women. I think I spent most of the time reading this book in gag reflex mode. How dare he try to put women in a nutshell for men's pleasure? "Keep your voice soft?, Keep your hair long!, anal sex, if he wants it, let him? I did not find anywhere anything about what a women would feel in response to Mr. Cost's suggestions on pleasing (actually being a slave) a man. He only commented on how to give ourselves totally without question, as long as the man was happy. I really do feel sorry for any of Mr. Cost's women, for they are either stupid to realize the role he has planned for them, or they have no girlfriends to help them see through his crap. Hopefully this will be Mr. Cost's last book, we really don't need anymore caveman comments.

Summary: An Archaic and Disappointingly One-Sided View
Review: I was extremely disappointed and a little repulsed by this book. It truly does seem like a bittersweet trip down memory lane for one man, other than a universal guide for men and women. No doubt that many men may identify and agree with the book because the author depicts men as the pleasure receivers and women as the subservient pleasure givers.

For me to live by the credo of this book (which would never happen), I would have to go back in time to the fifties. I was particularly turned off when he said (on p. 46) " I don't advocate violence and most men are not violent, but....." What does he mean "BUT"? Either you condone violence against women or you're against it, there is no BUT!

Also, the crude language (and I'm no prude) takes away from the intended meaning of the book and gives it a pornographic and seedy feeling. This is just one man's view on relationships as archaic and narrow minded as it appears. I've been married for almost 20 years and my husband disagrees with 95% of the book. Oh and by the way, he loves me in short skirts, make-up, lipstick, perfume and all!

Summary: Questionable
Review: Okay, okay, I'll admit it! The title alone made me want me to snatch this book up and get ready to walk into the secret world of men and what they really want. And yep, I was a wee bit curious about "controlling" them too or actually finding out what the author meant by control. In starting, my biggest question was "Why would a man let us in the club, giving us full access to truly run things?"

First of all, the author did a very good job of starting the book off with a definition of control as "a woman's ability to get the things she wants from a man." Just the title alone seems manipulative and I wasn't really sure this was the type of book I wanted to be caught reading. After defining control, C. E. Cost jumps straight into the secrets of treating men inconsistently (which I read as being manipulative and playing games), instructions on how to sex your man up (even if you had to fake your own satisfaction--oh and you can't move in some positions so you don't throw off your partner's rhythm), and a few of the vanity issues revolving around a woman's appearance. While some of the things made me raise an eyebrow a time or two, most of them just made me continue to ask myself if that's what men really want.

THE SECRETS: HOW TO CONTROL A MAN is intended to be a step-by-step instructional guide that covers the gamut of interactions between men and women, but I didn't really get that feel for it. I saw the first half more as one person's trip down memory lane and all the things his women did to pleasure him, keep him happy, and pump up his ego. Perhaps this is because the book starts off with tip after tip on things that relate to the sexual gratification of men (and sometimes at a woman's expense) and not until over half-way through the book did the things such as being trustworthy, understanding, honest, respecting your man, and things of this nature come to the forefront. I felt that the "secrets" should've been used as a tool to bring men and women closer together, but instead came across to me as a self-serving tool for men to have their sexual desires fulfilled and then after that was accomplished, all of the other stuff (that most women deem as important) could take place.

With an editor to revise the format of the book, sequence, typographical errors, and some of the crude language (appropriate in some places/inappropriate in others), I do think this book could be very well received by both men and women; especially those who are looking for the complete package in their relationship; not just a how-to sex manual.
