Summary: Have an open mind
Review: I have worked as a therapist for thirty years with many credits to my work including total relief from anorexia and other so called incurables for my clients. This book in the proper hands is of the highest value.

Summary: Excellent Material!
Review: I just "devoured" this book and believe, if a person is willing to apply the concepts, one will lose weight. Teaching many of these concepts for years (I was a high school teacher, and currently am a college psychology instructor), I was thrilled to see an author synergistically connect them. This synergy leads to powerful results if the concepts are used properly. I have just started incorporating suggested techniques in my life (5/15/01), and am already seeing positive outcomes. I will be including selected information in my psychology classes. The 800 phone numbers listed in the book are no longer valid. Tapes may be obtained by accessing Dr. Helmstetter's website at http://www.shadhelmstetter.com. I am not connected in any way with Dr. Helmstetter -- I only included this information as I was frustrated in not being able to locate the tapes by phone and wished to share my discovery. They are $89.00 + shipping & handling.It was indicated that the book, Positive Self-Talk for Children by Douglas Bloch, gives direction on creating your own self-talk tapes. I've ordered that book through Amazon.com and will review before I purchase Helmstetter's tapes. Helmstetter's (along with Bob Schwartz) book provides excellent information, though somewhat verbose, in an easily read format. Read it, apply it, and lose unwanted pounds!

Summary: Great way to loose weight!
Review: This book will work if you allow it to. You must listen to what the author has to say on the pages. Don't let the other reviews discourage you. If you have been dealing with a weight problem I am sure you have tried many ways to loose the weight, and possibly alot of money in the process, I know I have. Come on people, this book is only a few bucks! And I say that it is worth its "weight" in gold, pun intended!
