Rating: Summary: Very well written and thorough Review: This is an excellent book that draws on many medical-research studies yet is accessible to the layman. Fumento shows why so many Americans are getting fatter--we eat too much and exercise too little. What's scary is that there is no end in sight. Hopefully this book will help to stop that trend. Overweight individuals who want to lose weight will almost surely do so if they follow the advice in this book. My only criticism is that Fumento is unaccepting of those in the "fat acceptence" movement. If some people choose to be fat and understand the dangers--similar to those who smoke while knowing the risk--we should accept their choice. If you love food or smoking, you might be willing to cut a few years off your life to be happier right now. Living as long as you can is not necessarily a high priority for everyone. On the other hand, I dislike the fat acceptence people because they're trying to get those who want to lose weight to give up hope. This book shows that there is hope.
