Rating: ![3 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-3-0.gif) Summary: A good reference guide Review: The complete acupuncture cd-rom is not for the beginner.I was extremely disappointed with the charts on the CD. Every point was drawn out on a human body with a front view, back view, side view and sections of the body, however, when I tried to get a close up of the points, the numbers and point names were too blurry to see. I plan to write to the publisher to see if there is anything I have to do with my computer or if I'm stuck with useless pictures. The acupuncture demonstration on video was interesting. It showed how to insert the needles and how moxibustion is used. The talk on acupuncture answered basic questions about acupuncture, such as, Is it safe? How does it work? How often do you have to be treated for a symptom? The CD teaches you what needles are used, how to insert them, how to use moxibustion, possible accidents you might need to be aware of and more but it explains each subject only briefly. It sections off all the channels of the body and explains where they are in text format which I feel for a beginner is too hard to understand. It would have helped if they gave you the point combinations for a particlar condition and showed a picture with the points being used. On the plus side, the CD does offer 534 acupuncture studies to research. It also contains a handbook for ear acupuncture, giving you points for many conditions. All in all, it trys to cover everything you need to know about acupuncture, but covers it only briefly. It is a good reference CD, but I need to buy another book to have a better understanding of all the points.
