Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: An excellent analysis of eating disorders Review: Conversations with Anorexics is Hilde Bruch's last book before she died and the best book I've found on the topic. It gives a clear and easily understandable profile of anorexia and bulimia. It's accessible to a lay audience, and helps understand anorexia beyond the stereotype which everyone has of the illness. Each chapter describes an aspect of the illness and has many examples of patients Bruch worked with. Hilde Bruch was the first psychologist to devote herself entirely to the study of eating disorders, and she is the only expert on the topic everyone agrees with. And treatise on eating disorders you read mentions Bruch's groundbreaking work, and beyond the many modish and questionable theories her undestanding of the diseases is reliable, accurate and well-researched. I can't stop recommending this book.
