Rating: Summary: Bathing suit workout Review: A book that is well written with great pictures and DIRECTIONS on what to do . How many times do we get a book about fitness and it doesn't tell us exactly what we should do(how many sets and reps ect). Joyce writes in an entertaining way and doesn't beat around the bush. She tells you how we should eat in this book too. She also writes about getting plastic surgery and really goes into detail about it. I thought the success stories were motivating. I learned alot from this book about how doing aerobics will not change the shape of your body. The workout is for your abs/hips/butt. She carefully created the workout to be non boring and you do one exercise for your hips then move on to another exercise for your butt and then finish with abs. You do this 3 times. Then move on to the next exercise. You do 10 different exercises. It takes me about an hour. I use her Bathing suit workout book and video. THis book is worth getting!
Rating: Summary: A little air brushing and face-lifting go a long way, Joyce! Review: I got this book and literally followed her program step-by-step for 6 weeks and I have seen very little results. She claims that her program is a fat-burning program (and weight-lifting can be) but this program should not be touted as such. I have personally been on a strict diet and followed this book to the tee and gotten nowhere fast. Don't let the air-brushed body on the cover deceive you, most people will not look like this in 10 minutes a day! After following Joyce's program rigorously for 6 weeks, I can see no visible difference in the tone and shape of my flabby physique. I also did not experience more energy. Unfortunately this book makes claims that are not altogether true, especially for those of us with more than a few pounds to lose!
Rating: Summary: The Sub-Title is misleading but the exercises get results Review: I have tried to do this workout in the 10 minutes touted in the sub-title. There is no way, under any circumstances, that this is a 10 minute workout. The BSW video series is even split up into three twenty minute workouts. It is a 60 minute workout. BUT it is a workout that does work. I have seen the butt/thighs/hips firm up, tone up and look great. It looks like even the cellulite is beginning to disappear. Other than the misleading "in ten minutes a day" my only other complaint about this book is that the dietary information is confusing. On pg.132 her discussion of low caloric density carbs and high caloric density carbs is unclear. Most fitness experts are agreeing now that refined carbs along with a high carb diet is not the way to lose body fat and gain lean body mass/muslce. Joyce is still behind the times there. Nevertheless I am seeing amazing results from following this exercise program for just 4 weeks now. I can't wait to see what will happen in another 8 weeks. If you, like me, have had children or are carrying a lifetime of famine storage around your middle, hips, and thighs this workout will do wonders for you.
Rating: Summary: The Sub-Title is misleading but the exercises get results Review: I started working out with Joyce's book (The 12-Minute Total-Body Workout) since March of 1994 and haven't stopped because of the great results. The Bathing Suit Workout is another great book. For me, I noticed results after the first week (I do both 12-Minute & Bathing Suit Workouts). All the exercises are fully explained with photographs on position, movement and helpful tips. There's also a convenient tear-out wall chart for reference. You can't get bored with her workout because of the variety of exercises. I won't shy away from bikinis anymore!
