Rating: Summary: Excellent discourse on transference & countertransference. Review: Margaret Little provides clear, cogent discussions of the transference and countertransference phenomena, including her thoughts on the implications of therapists' varying from classic psychoanalytic technique, which is still relevant and thought-provoking in today's world of psychotherapy. Many issues faced by the field today are named in this book. Although she does not focus on touch per se, somatic therapists may find this book useful as they work to understand the mindbody interface, and the transference/countertransference implications of bounded, healthy touch in therapy. Ms. Little's discussions of work with individuals chharacterized as having borderline personality disorder is among the most lucid, and hopeful, I have read.
