Summary: Required reading for counselors of gifted children,
Review: Anyone who works with gifted students, their parents and/or their teachers needs to have this resource readily available. Ms. Silverman has gathered some of the most useful information available on counseling the gifted and talented student and their families.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Every parent and professional should have this book...
Review: Dr. Silverman covers all the issues that our gifted children bring to us, in Counseling... I have two profoundly gifted children, and I wish I read this book sooner - it helps SO much in my understanding of them, of what they are going through. We, as parents, are our children's first counselor, and this book makes it so much easier for us to "do the job" for our gifted children.

Characteristics of giftedness, emotional aspects, over-excitabilities, special needs, peers, home, school, even multi-cultural and gender issues are dealt with in this comprehensive volume.

And every counselor, psychologist, and other professional who deals with gifted children shoudl read this book, and keep it as reference on their shelf... close at hand.

Mine is full of post-it flags... in my library, that says it all.

Summary: A "must have" for parents of gifted children
Review: I am the mother of a highly gifted son and I have been reading everything I can get my hands on. This book has been invaluable. It confimed things I already knew, it opened my eyes to things I had missed, and it alerted me to issues to watch out for in thefuture. You *need* this book if you are a parent of a gifted child, and moreso if your child is highly or profroundly gifted.
