Summary: Accomplishing what's important
Review: Business is all about getting things done. Fried's simple but compelling idea is that we can apply the principals we've learned in business to the task of leading a more meaningful life. Like many good books, this one can be hard to read simply because it is so thought provoking. Peppered with quotes, personal observations and exercises, the book constantly challenges us to stop reading and start thinking. Fortunately, Fried writes in clear, concise, casual prose that lures us back whenever we wander. This is not a book for navel gazers or those looking for a scheme to get rich quick. Instead, it's a practical guide for ethical people who want to accomplish more in their lives.

Summary: Entertaining and thought-provoking!
Review: Grab your pens, pencils and colored highlighters--you're going to need them as you read this delightful guide to "turn your life into your most successful business venture." Robert Fried asks many insightful questions about your life goals--and about the plan you have to accomplish them. Not your business goals, but your personal goals. Too often we get caught up in the day-to-day business hunt to acquire "more, better, bigger" stuff. But Mr. Fried has a prescription for more happiness, better quality of life, and bigger legacies to leave to others. He shares the questions he asked of himself, and then he asks them of you. Each chapter concludes in thought-provoking exercises that lead you to your own plan for creating meaning, happiness and true success. A self-help author myself, I don't often fill out the forms in books, but I am filling out these. A wonderful book!

It will delightfully lead you on a path to define who you are, who you dream of becoming and how to make more meaning in life. It'll make you begin to look at life more seriously. The exercises are clearly thought out. In the end, I plan to celebrate Mr. Fried's A Marketing Plan for Life as being my most successful venture yet.

Summary: Why, business or personal?
Review: The work sheets, supporting text, and overall concepts contained in this book are presented in a very digestable manner. In a few hours one can begin to experience an "in control" feeling. Its like traveling a path to somewhere you have never been before. We look for signs to confirm our direction. What Fried's book does is provide proven techniques to define, not only where but HOW to get there ... the signs are in the book.

The deeper value of "A Marketing Plan for Life" is the eventual realization that somewhere within the readers work experience bits and pieces of Fried's techniques are hiding behind a wall labeled .....work. "A marketing plan for life" tears down this wall and forever urges business people of all diciplines to merge business and personal solutions to the betterment of both life aspects.

Summary: Fantastic Book
Review: This is a fantastic book with practical, real-world steps for addressing fundamental life questions. It is very well-written and was hard to put down until finished. "A Marketing Plan for Life" encourages the reader to think big, dream generously, and deliberately embark on a journey of self-discovery. The author uses many concrete examples to apply concepts used every day in the world of business to the voyage of life and the legacy that will remain. The book is an excellent first step in this journey, and it successfully prompts the reader to ask: Why am I here? What will I leave behind? But the first step is the most important.

Summary: A Marketing Plan For Life
Review: Up until now I really never thought my readings would make a significant difference in my life. Boy, was I wrong! Fried's A Marketing Plan For Life is literally changing my life day-by-day. By following it's step-by-step process I am moving from a glass half empty "woe is me" attitude to a glass half full "watch out world, here I come" mind set, after just a week with the book. I particularly connected with his comments about one's ability to chart your legacy and his concept of the Three Winds of Life. I've read a lot of business books and a lot of self-help books over the years but this is the first time I've read anything that links the two genres into a meaningful, useful and productive plan-of-attack. There's very little verbiage for the sake of verbiage in the book and the author spins some very enlightening personal anecdotes from his many years in the business world. I've taken about a dozen of the best inspirational quotes from the book and plastered them around my home and office. The best (and probably toughest) parts of A Marketing Plan For Life are the exercises at the end of each chapter, that really force you to take a serious, deeply-delving and honest look into yourself so that your personal marketing plan for the future is based on a truthful foundation. This book is going on my shelf right next to Think and Grow Rich and The Alchemist.

Summary: Life Planning with a Practical Heart
Review: When a friend recommended this to me recently I was expecting Fried's Marketing Plan for Life to be a huckster-ish, self-help guide. Its basic premise is how to use analytical business techniques for personal and emotional self-assessment to help identify true life goals and figure out how to achieve them. This book helps you interpret your emotions, strengths and weaknesses in order to incorporate them concretely into everyday life. Too many of us save our best selves for work and never think about how to apply well-developed skills to personal advantage. So, instead of cynical self-help, Robert Fried's Marketing Plan for Life leads you to deep insight with a practical heart.

Summary: Not too late
Review: Wow! I wish I would have read this book 20 years ago. It would have changed the direction I took in life. This book really helped me focus on what's important. I'm not going to bemoan missing out on this information for the last 20 years, but instead use it to re-examine my life and its direction. It gives clear ideas about how to plan and succeed in extablishing and following through on your life's goals. I particularly found the worksheets helpful.
