The way he writes of his own experiences, what he has learned from them and his willingness to share his knowledge and experience is awesome. A "thinking" man, you are inspired after conversing with him or reading his books. They are one in the same--you are motivated to learn more and share more. Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: an eye-opening book on education Review: wow. this is a powerful book. it is powerful because of the ideas it represents regarding almost all aspects of education. although written 1989, there is a wealth of information here on the changes needed in education, maybe more than ever in today's world. the book explores everything from the psychological aspects of education to what should be done for the future. as a student, who was unhappy with the education system, i dropped out and started my own online college called self college. as a student who had attended a traditional college for so many years, i thought starting my own college was a landmark idea, but it appears that this concept had already been developed by many different people. lifelong learning is not new, but rarely given consideration for personal growth. this concept of self-education is so important and more books, such as this incredible book, should be written about the subject. we live in a world where billions are funneled into traditional educational outlets, that many are still questioning if any real and enriching learning is taking place. are we as a society seeing a good return on our educational investment? there is one important aspect of this book for me, which is continued throughout the book, deals with education and reality. this covers why we think the way we do and how it is ingrained into our sense of reality. media manipulation, authority and power colleges hold, harmful effects of credentialism, and how these all come together to shape our reality in a system that continually reinforces the same ideas over and over. a book like this will really give you something to think about and for some it could be life changing. all of these powerful ideas in just one book, is the reason why i recommend this book to all selfcollege.com students. the ideas are so rich and worth taking into consideration for anyone currently on the lifelong learning path. due to the fact that i have read the book and now will begin to study it's principles, there is no doubt when i say this is a 5 star book. i believe it is a must read for any student or professor. jason hanken founder, self college
