Rating: Summary: If you suffer from Chronic Pain this is YOUR Book! Review: Before reading this book I can honestly say I was lost.. Lost in a maze of Doctors, lost in a drudgery of medicine, lost in the hope for a better life. This book has touched my life in so many ways, giving me clear answers to nearly all my medical questions, providing me with a roadmap through the prescription maze, arming me with information and showing me that there is hope. This books lighthearted and comical diction makes it the first real medical book that Ive actually enjoyed reading, and laughed out loud along the way. Anyone that suffers from Chronic pain, I urge to read Validate Your Pain and equip yourself with a powerful tool.

Rating: Summary: An Excellent Book for Patients AND Healthcare Professionals! Review: I have been anticipating the publication of the second edition of Validate Your Pain! Exposing the Chronic Pain Cover-Up (VYP) by Allan F. Chino, Ph.D. and Corinne Dille Davis, M.D., and as soon as I saw it available [on Amazon.com!], I ordered it- several copies, as a matter of fact! I am pleased to be one of the people who wrote a review of the first edition of VYP for inclusion in the second edition: "I first saw the book, Validate Your Pain! Exposing the Chronic Pain Cover-Up (VYP) by Allan F. Chino, Ph.D. and Corinne Dille Davis, M.D., in January of 2001 while searching on-line [at Amazon.com]. A few days later, I looked through it at a local bookstore. Both as a Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) who lectures and publishes on pain management and as a person who experiences both chronic and acute pain, when I found myself nodding in agreement with most everything I read, I knew I had to buy this book! I read it cover-to-cover and it was even better than I'd initially expected. It is easier in pharmacy and other medical literature to find information on medications used to treat pain than it is to get a glimpse of the frustration and suffering patients with chronic pain so often feel. The title of this book is excellent and so appropriate; it validates a person's pain and helps empower them to better achieve pain management, both on their own and within the traditional health care system."
Rating: Summary: Validate Your Pain-Exposing the Chronic Pain Cover-Up Review: Run, limp, order it online- but DEFINTELY obtain this book ASAP if you are a pain survivor, work with pain patients or if a loved one suffers from chronic pain. This book is outstanding and sincere. I use it as an invaluable resource and I use it for emotional support. The approach is right-on-target and empowering. The utter contempt pain patients face on a daily basis from the medical community, indifferent (sometimes frustrated) and ignorant doctors and nurses, acquaintances, friends and family is appalling and barbaric. I was recently referred to a pain clinic associated with a respected university and I went relunctantly. The two doctors I encountered were utter clowns. I knew more about neurology and medicines applicable to my situation than they did- which is terrifying. To think that people, in the most horrific of pain have no choice but to turn to these "Keystone doctors" when they are in the most desperate of situations is truly of nightmarish implications. As anesthesiologists they were already discussing "shots" before I even gave them my pain history. The doctor who took the history "zoned-out" in the middle while I related my history. I did not fit neatly into any of his boxes. As a teacher it is my job to know when someone is not paying attention. I had to resist the urge to tell him "to sit up straight and pay attention". Nor was he even following what I was saying (that is also my job to determine if a listener understands. They could not diagnose me, recognized I was bright and well-informed, and was not going to stand for any of their nonsense. They could not get me out of there fast enough and kept looking for one feeble excuse after another. Six years of unrelenting, daily pain that never goes away, is getting worse and they said I was doing "just fine". I was butchered by a endodontist who is still out there "practicing".I can barely hold down a job. The most mundane task is a major event. They couldn't wait to get me out of there which was fine with me. I am certain they could not even pass a basic logic class. This book explains a myriad of procedures and covers countless medications. Drs. David and Chino brought to my attention a medication that is actually helping me. I have scoured the Internet in search of help but their book is packed with information I may never have found. The information is compassionate and up-to-date. My only regret is that I live in the Midwest and cannot further benefit from the expertise and empathy of these forthright, pragmatic pain specialists. But I cannot thank them enough. BUY THIS BOOK!!!!!!!!!!
