Rating: Summary: Your Performing Edge Review: As a competitive distance runner for the last 25 years, I've focused mainly on the physical aspects of training. Then I came across Dr. Dahlkoetter's book on the mental aspects of training and living. After reading it, I have nothing but praise for this book. It provided a whole new stimulus for my training and life. Helpful mental training exercises are provided along with straight forward information and interviews with champion athletes. I highly recommend this book for everyone, athlete or not.
Rating: Summary: Your Performing Edge - A Superb Realistic Guide Review: For the past 10 years I have been a fairly competitive Masters and Seniors(50 age group) runner in The PA Series of USATF in both Road Racing and Cross Country. As I have gotten older I find that the mental aspects of running, racing and training are even more important than the physical aspects. You can be in great shape physically, but if you are not mentally strong your performance will suffer. Dr JoAnn Dahlkoetter's book, Your Performing Edge helps you to see in very easy steps how to become mentally tuff, how to focus on your goal. I have learned more in a few weeks about being mentally focused to compete than I have in many years of running and racing. JoAnn shows you step by step how to become a mentally stronger, more focused competitor in sports and in life. I would highly recommend Dr Dahlkoetter's book to any athlete of any sport, or anyone who wants to compete better at life in general. I wish I had this knowledge 10 years ago, I would definitely be a stronger and faster runner and a better person. Chuck MacDonald
Rating: Summary: Your Performing Edge - A Superb Realistic Guide Review: I have been a Nationally ranked Senior Distance Runner and search eagerly for books on the subject of Running. Dr. Dahlkoetter has written a superb guide that has already helped my running and added value to my non-running life as well. I was most impressed with how realistic it is and how many great mental exercises are explained. Definitely a must read for anyone, whether they compete or not. I am the Training Director of the Big Sur Marathon and coordinate a series of training sessions for first time and experienced Marathoners. Dr. Dahlkoetter's book is on the MUST READ list, right along with Galloway and Sheehan.

Dr. Dahlkoetter's training exercises at the end of each chapter helped me learn to focus on my goals and visualize the results I was looking for. Now that I can see a clear picture of what I want in my life, and map out the specific steps to take, I am moving forward and making real progress in health, fitness, and personal productivity. Rating: Summary: Your Performing Edge Review: Your Performing Edge is quite simply the best book i have ever read on the subject of improving mental performance. I am a keen amateur golfer with a 4 handicap and a great natural athelete. Like everyone, i was searching for that "miracle" to help me break through the next barrier - my mind. I have read and studied a number of other books and programs about improving mental performance. While many gave you the answers to "what" you need to do, none gave you the answers to "how" to improve. Dr. JoAnn Dalkoetters insights, lessons and tips are the most valuable resource ever produced on the subject. Combine this book with her Personal Coaching Program and you have, what i consider to be, the most powerful program available. I am now playing the golf i have always dreamed of. Your Performing Edge is a must read for anyone seriously considering improving their mental approach to atheletics, life, business or otherwise.

This book has provided me with new motivation and a strong sense of self-confidence to to break through mental barriers and to perform my absolute best. But this book goes far beyond the area of sports. It has also given me the proper tools for moving forward in every aspect of my life. I can now focus better at my work as well as during my workouts. I highly recommend this book to anyone who wishes to aim higher for themselves!
