Review: I am very pleased with the book, The Black Woman's Guide to Menopause. Ms. Carolyn Scott Brown with contributions from Dr. Barbara Levy did an excellent job of answering questions on a topic that our mothers are reluctant to discuss and/or cannot answer.
Ms. Brown handles all the topics in a very personal way. As she takes us through her menopausal journey, she covers topics such as dealing with the "shame" of going through "the change," how to discuss menopausal issues with our doctors, changes in our sexuality, and sharing information and experiences with our friends.
While the book identifies the subtle differences that African Americans experience with menopause it also gives a great definition and overview of menopause from any woman's perspective.
Thank you, Ms. Brown, for having the courage and fortitude to offer your expertise on a much-needed topic.
