Rating: Summary: Worth Reading Review: "Loving in Flow" is written in an easy to read, unpretentious and entertaining style. Dr.Susan Perry's credentials and experience are impressive and lend credibility to her message. Setting her apart from the authors of many self-help books about relationships is her refreshing viewpoint that these are not the things you MUST do to improve your relationship - rather, she gently delivers insights for your consideration - to be used if appropriate, and discarded if not. Reading her book opened my eyes to several areas for improvement in my own life. It also helped me understand and identify behaviors (both good and bad) in others. I guarantee that if you read Perry's book, you'll learn something useful about yourself that you didn't know before.

Rating: Summary: Finally! A book on relationships that makes perfect sense. Review: For the last 20 years, I have been reading books that addressed ways in which relationships, where two people come together with past histories and heavy baggage, could not only survive, but thrive. Whenever I've read these types of books, I have been left with some sense of still not quite understanding and still struggled to make sense of it all. After reading the first few pages of Susan Perry's book, I found myself saying "this makes perfect sense". While reading about this very complex issue - sustaining relationships through change - I was struck by Susan's ablity to have me feel as if she and I were sitting around sharing a cup of coffee. As I continued to read each page, I found myself turning back each corner of the page, so that I could come back and read them again. It became apparent that this author was able to get inside my soul and really have me feel as if she knew what I was feeling and could emphathize with my emotional roller coaster ride. From sharing her own life experiences, to exploring other married couples who were still "in flow", Susan provides the reader with much research from which to draw conclusions. Never preachy or judgmental in her writing, Susan allows the reader to feel that one must stumble a little in marriage before landing on one's own two feet. She made me feel that everything I was feeling was okay. Reading her book was like being with a very, very good friend. Her practical strategies for helping me understand my partner and working together to keep "in flow" were a real gift. I highly recommend this book!
Rating: Summary: Excellent relationships book Review: I was impressed by this book and am definitely recommending it to others. Dr. Perry approaches the committed relationship from a different angle than most writers, making this an invaluable source for anyone who has a significant other. For from being a boring analytical "analysis", this book is full of tried and true methods from couples who have been through a lot together. making Dr. Perry's comments more than theory -- it makes them reality.
Rating: Summary: This Book Is The Real Deal Review: I was more interested in Dr. Perry's book, "Writing in Flow" and I primarily read this book to see and experience her writing. I didn't think I'd become engrossed in it but I did. I've had a lot of experience leading couples workshops and doing clearings on various relationship issues. I was sure there would be nothing in this book for me, but I was wrong. I walked away with the realization that I was taking my husband's many kindnesses and on-going support of me for granted and neglecting to acknowledge him on a regular basis -- and was very surprised to make that discovery. My husband doesn't know I just read a fantastic book, but he definitely knows he is tops on my list and that I appreciate him. What an amazing gift to take from Dr. Perry's thoughtful, honest, and straight-forward book. I highly recommend it to everyone.
Rating: Summary: Read this before you see a therapist. Review: Perry weaves the words of relationship experts with real-life couples to offer us a book that is highly readable, enjoyable, and well worth the money it can save you in therapy fees. Perry speaks candidly about her own relationship path and addresses universal relationship concerns like conflict, communication, and infidelity. Reading Loving in Flow is like sitting down with a friend and talking about relationships - it is honest, validating, and good for your soul.
Rating: Summary: Recommended!! Review: Refreshingly honest with insight that teaches partners to be "count-on-able," to be happy together and much more. "Loving in Flow" is a delight to read!
Rating: Summary: outstanding Review: Susan K. Perry has written a wonderful book that can benefit everyone. It's written in a personable and understandable style. She draws from her own research interviewing couples with "fulfilled" and resilient relationships and from the relationship literature to inform us of practical and sensible guidance. One of the most endearing qualities of her book is how much she draws from her personal life and relationship with her husband Stephen. She conveys an intimate understanding of couple relationships that is easily recognized. Loving in Flow takes the reader from first meetings and courtship through the inevitable ups and downs that are experienced by all committed couples. Throughout the book, she conveys optimism that through our commitment to each other and hard work, we can achieve the flow that makes our relationship so meaningful. Dr. Perry doesn't leave us in the lurch but offers many solid suggestions and guidelines based on the literature, her interviews with real couples and her own experience. I believe that anyone who reads this book will find it satisfying and useful. This book should be on everyone's shelf.

Rating: Summary: Learn it. Know it. Live it. Review: Susan Perry's "Loving In Flow" is a gutsy tribute to honesty. Using anecdotes from her own life, she puts out a straight-to-the-core, no-frills set of frameworks for building and maintaining a real relationship. I saw my own failed attempts over and over in her examples and can only wonder how sucessful I might have been had this wonderful guide been available before.
