Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Tackling the Tough Ones Review: Since I am listed on the back cover as one who recommends this book it might seem like I am in writing just to up the sales. That, hopefully, would be a side effect but the real reason I recommend this book so whole-heartedly is that I am using it every day in the work that I do with sexual offenders. But this book is not just for sites where you are involved in intense work day to day. It provides, in addition to many adaptable drama therapy exercises, a template which helps you to decide which exercises to use in which situations. These are time-tested ways of encouraging the most challenged and challenging populations to play.As a drama therapist who practices Developmental Drama Therapy (see David Read Johnson, Ph.D.) my goal is to get my clients to rediscover ways in which to play, to re-do the developmental tasks missed along the way. I work everyday with adult male sexual offenders both in and out of prison and find this book directs me in wonderful new ways to engage this very difficult group of men. Drama Therapy has helped many of my clients to engage not only their own feelings but the broader range of programmatic work encompassed in the Relapse Prevention model. John Bergman and his long-time collaborator have done us all a great service sharing their collective wisdom hard-earned in the front lines of prison work in the US and abroad.
