Rating: Summary: important and useful Review: The Words Can Heal Handbook is one of those profound books that can change your life. When I think back on my experience with other people throughout my life I realize that I have used words that have had a devastating effect on some important people in my life. This book shows you how to control your words so that you only provide the people you love with good feelings about themselves and good feelings about you. By citing numerous examples the book shows you how you can use words to improve your relationships with your parents, your siblings, your spouse, your children, and your friends. It is a jewel of a behavior transforming guidebook.
Rating: Summary: Even kids will enjoy it - and learn young! Review: This book is so user-friendly that even my kids found the layout and advice attractive! I was reading its insights and had it by my bedside table. Even though it would have been easy to read the whole thing in one sitting, I was deliberately pacing it so that I would properly digest the points. Meanwhile, I found my eleven year old daughter browsing through it and she was even taking notes! I asked her what the notes were for and she said, "there are a lot of really meaningful phrases in here! I want to remember them. Maybe I'll make a poster to hang in my room. Listen to this one, Mommy..." and she went on to quote from her notes. My other kids also found themselves attracted to the cartoon-like layout and were seen reading it. If the goal is to improve our speech, the younger we start, the better! I am thrilled to have a book with this goal in the house that even motivates my kids!
Rating: Summary: great book for corporations Review: when I saw Goldie Hawn on TV talking about this book I went out and got a copy.As a retired executive from a prominent software company the battle with the rumor mill was demoralizing and unnecessarily time consuming. If I had the book at that time I would have purchased one for each employee and make it compulsory reading. The book deals with basic human emotions, but evokes many thoughts about our humanity.
