Summary: A Book So Stirring That I Plan To Read It Again
Review: A time of turmoil can be a spark to read and reflect on your beliefs. In mid-2003, after the Iraq regime had been ousted, it seemed odd to me that the the U.S. news media would remain so insistent on bashing conservatives. I think the media's liberal bias is showing, and I was stirred to pick up this work. I didn't know what to expect, but I discovered this is one excellent book. The author writes with pride about the values of conservatism and he examines why conservatives take unfair hits. Perhaps his engineering background gave him the talent to present his arguments so calmly and logically. The chapter titles alone are stirring -- "The Tyranny of Words," "The Arrogant Elitists," "The Politics of Envy, "The Myth of Infinite Resources" -- and hint at incisive thinking. When I finished the last page, I wanted to invite Joe Jacobs over for dinner for what I'm sure would be stimulating conversation. I could also sense by the tone of the writing that this is a wonderful man.
